Chapter Twenty-Four
Azalea“What the actual fuck are you doing?” I asked him once Avery left, I was standing while Dylan was sitting on my couch again.
“I missed your cursing.” he told me.
He is seriously not doing this right now, is he?
“My sister is going to hate me forever now, I am literally so irresponsible.” I whispered.
“Don't exaggerate, she will be fine. It's not like we were neglecting your niece.” he said.
“No! I was neglecting my niece. What type of person makes out with another while a baby is sleeping nearby?” I asked him.
“Aza, once she realized our situation she totally apologized for being a bitch. Now let's go to breakfast or something and talk.” he said to me.
“I can't.” I said and then walked away from Dylan.
Why is he even here, he only makes me nervous. Why did Charles give him my address, isn't he suppose to be my dad. He is defiantly not looking for my best interest.
I walked to my room and shut and locked the door behind me, I needed to get dressed. I grabbed the first thing in my closet which was a pair of jeans and a band T that said The 1975.
When I walked out of my room I found Dylan in my kitchen going through my fridge, like he lived here or something.
“Dylan? What do you think you are doing?” I asked him.
“Well I'm hungry, I asked you if you wanted to go to breakfast but you declined me, so here I am eating some kind of leftover pie.” he said.
“I have to leave, which means you have to leave. And by the way you could of totally ate breakfast somewhere all by yourself.” I told him.
“I would honestly not, and where are you going?” he asked me.
“There is this lunch thing I have to go to with my dad.” I said.
“It's only like 9, lunch doesn't occur until like 12.” he said.
Why was he being so irradiating, I was thrilled to see him but I was not ready for this invasion of space.
“I have to stop by work.” I told him.
“Where do you work?” he asked me.
“I opened a bakery not too long ago.” I told him.
“I thought you were into singing.” he said.
“I was, but I never wanted to do it professionally. I majoring in business in college with a minor in culinary. I opened a bakery, and I love it. And I really need to get going, so I need you to leave. You can come back later if you really want to.” I told him.
“Can I come with?” he asked.
I think if I wasn't looking at him in the eyes I would of declined him, but he looked so sad to see me go so I agreed he could come with. Damn those dreamy eyes.“Azalea! I never thought you were gonna show up, I almost thought I was going to have to make the cakes.” My cashier said once I walked in the door. Her name was Elise, she was about the same age as me. I had actually met her in one of my business classes. She didn't do so well in the class and ended up flunking, she was now re-altering her major and trying to go back to school, I let her take my cashier job because she really needed a job, and I paid pretty well. But she can't bake to save her life, so I keep her out of my kitchen.
“Let's not joke about my pastries. But I can only stay for a few hours, I have some family thing to attend to at like 12.” I told her.
“Fine with me, I will be here if you need me.” she said.
I then quickly went back into the kitchen and started my recipes for my pastries.
I heard the bell from the front door go off then I heard Elise's high pitched screams with Dylan's name scattered through her voice.
I quickly set everything down and rushed into where Elise was.
“What would be the problem?” I asked staring at Dylan.
“It wasn't me.” he said while throwing his hands up claiming he did nothing.
“It's O'Brien.” she whispered to me.
I took a deep breath before I said anything. I knew that she was a huge Dylan fan, and I knew that Dylan was in his car right outside the bakery. I didn't really have time for this. I was already thrown off track with Dylan just being here but now Elise and her fangirling, I cannot right now.
“I know, he's a friend of mine. Please ignore him. He will leave soon, I promise.” I told her.
“A FRIEND? I have known you for how many years and you never mentioned to me that Dylan O'Brien was a “friend” of yours?” She said.
“Ex-Boyfriend.” Dylan offered.
I just looked at him as I wanted to kill him, because I really did.
“You guys have been romantic?” she asked me as if I broke her heart.
I just rolled my eyes and walked back into the kitchen, but I could still hear Dylan and Elise talking.“It's really nice to meet you, sorry I totally freaked out a few moments ago.” Elise said.
“No big deal, I thought it was hilarious.”
“So how long have you know Azalea?” she asked.
There was a moment of silence.
“About 5 years I would say. I met her when she was 17. At the time we all thought John Posey was her dad and I’m best friends with his son so I was kind of forced into her life. But I don't regret any of it, I truly love her; I am in love with her.” Dylan said.
“I think if Azalea wasn't one of my favorite person I know I would totally be jealous and angry but I’m gonna ship you guys. I am totally rooting for you.” Elise said. I quickly hurried up my mixing and cleaned up my mess before Elise shared all my secrets with him.
“Dylan, I am almost finished here. How I meet you at Charles, I should be there in about 30 minutes.” I told him.
He just nodded his head and left. As soon as the door closed Elise looked at me.
“What?” I asked.
“He doesn't know does he?” she asked.
I knew exactly what she was referring to.
“No, and I would like to keep it that way.” I told her.
“You have to, no you must tell him. That guy is so in love with you, it's almost sickening.” she said.
“Yeah, I know. But we are no good for each other. We have tried this romance thing many times before. We always mess up.” I told her.
“Well confess all your secrets to him and try again. It may turn out different, you're older now.” Elise said.
I didn't respond to her. I returned back to the kitchen and finished with my pastries so I could make it to Charles house at a decent time, would hate to stand everyone up right?“Aza, hi honey.” Charles said when I walked in the house.
I hugged and kissed him on the cheek.
“Hi Charles. How is everyone?” I asked because I noticed that nobody was in the living room with him.
“Stella and Avery are in the kitchen proparing lunch, with Dylan.” he said.
I couldn't help but laugh, of coarse he was in there with them.
“Always the charmer isn't he?” I asked.
“Azalea he is lovely, he adores you so very much.” he told me.
I just nodded my head.
I walked in the kitchen, said hello to Stella and Avery and asked Dylan to meet me in the other room to talk with him. We met in the dinning room, which was empty.
“What's up Azalea?” he asked smiling at me.
“Why are you really here?” I came out and just asked him.
“What do you mean?”
“Cut the shit Dylan, I know you are here for a reason.” I told him.
“Okay. I have waited patiently for 3 years for you to come back to me, and you never did. Then I run into you at that cafe and I want you to stay, I want to stay. Is that so bad? Is it so awful that I love you, is it??” he asked. He seemed nearly angry.
“You know how things work when we get together, the ship sails straight into the ocean.” I told him.
“I know!” he yelled when then slammed his fist on the table, hard.
He looked at me and then his face softened and his hand caressed my cheek.
“I know. But maybe we can change it it, I honestly can't imagine my life without you in it.” he told me.
I didn't say anything, I just stayed silent.
“Aza?” he asked again.
“What do you say Aza, would it be so awful to be with me. Please love me, am I so awful?” he asked, pleaded.
I smiled at him.
“I guess I could have worse guys to pick from.” I told him.
“So?” he asked.
“Okay, okay Dylan I will give us a chance.” I told him.
Even before I got all my words out he was kissing me all over, on my lips and my neck and cheeks.
