So that was the plan ; I forced Jace to send an anonymous text message to Nancy to go and meet someone at the football field. And guess who that someone is ; me. Took you by surprise, right? Okay that was pretty lame but I was nervous. I took a deep breath and waited at the football field, playing with the soccer ball on my feet.
I was deep in thought thinking of what I should say to Nancy and what her reaction would be when I heard footsteps coming from behind me and then a voice.
"I missed you so much." a familiar voice said. I could recognise that voice in my sleep. I knew it was Nancy and I knew that she was about to cry.
"I missed you way too much." I told her and rushed towards her hugging her. She hugged back and I felt tears falling on my shoulders.
"I'm so sorry I didn't want to listen to your explanation. Jace told me everything. I'm so sorry." with that I pulled away looking at her confused.
"Jace told you everything? When?" I asked confused. I told him not to say a word to Nancy. Stupid boy.
"He found me coming here and stopped me. He told me that you wanted to tell me everything but he couldn't hold himself. He felt guilty, that's why he told me." Nancy said, a smile making its appearance on her lips. I smiled at her.
"Even though, you know everything about me and Jace being friends with benefits, I need to tell you something else." I told her and she nodded slowly. "I'm falling in love with him."
"WHAT?" she shouted and I put my palm over her mouth not letting her say another word.
"Don't shout, for God's sake. And yes, I'm falling in love with him and he's falling in love with me too ; that's what he said, so now technically we are a couple." I told her as I removed my hand from her mouth slowly to let her speak.
"I knew it." she whispered and laughed. I missed her so much.
...
I fixed my skirt and blazer to look nice and looked over at my left to find Jace Carter staring back at me with a stupid smile on his smile.
"You are starting to scare me." I told him truthfully. After the talk Jace and I had the other day we became the cutest couple of the school. No, I didn't think of that title just now, the whole school even voted for us to be titled as the cutest couple of the school.
"Why? Is it illegal to look at my beautiful girlfriend and smile?" He said sheepishly walking closer to me. I smiled at him and then laughed quietly.
"You still haven't told me what you meant by the 'I was holding this question inside of me since 7th grade'." I tried imitating Jace's voice but failed since he laughed at me. I was looking at him with a straight face and he realised I was being serious so he stopped laughing. His eyes widened and looked around awkwardly.
"Is it our turn? We need to get ready." he started saying awkwardly but I didn't buy it. Jace and I were at the science fair, ready to show our heart model we made a couple of weeks ago for our biology project. Turned out it was awesome and capable of winning the annual science fair.
"I'm not buying it, Jace. You need to tell me right now." My lips became a straight line and I stared into Jace's eyes intensely. He became even more nervous and awkward than before. You know, my death stare can make miracles.
"Okay okay, just stop looking at me like that, it freaks me out." He said putting his hands up showing surrender. I softened my stare and holded back a smile for appearing. He took a deep breath and started talking.
"So, you were my crush since 7th grade but I was too scared and shy to tell you so I sucked it up. I started believing that I would never get the chance to have you and call you mine so I just stopped caring so much which was the most difficult thing ever. But then we became friends and I had to hold back my feelings and don't let them show and that's why we drew apart, because I just needed to swallow my feelings and stopped feeling that way about you." he told me searching carefully for every word he used.
"Did it work?" I asked him smiling.
"I don't think so." That's all we said before hearing our names called to go on stage and represent our model. We did it and it turned out that our project wasn't too good to win. Instead we came second place with a model of 3D lungs exhaling and inhaling being on the first place. Well, it was pretty awesome so we didn't argue.
