"Why is your aunt coming?" Nancy questioned me after taking a sip from her orange juice. We were at the cafeteria eating our lunch.
"Just for a visit. She said she missed me." I answered.
I hate lying to Nancy. But at that moment, I couldn't do anything else but lie. I couldn't let her believe that i'm a slut and that I sleep with Jace, like, everyday.
She would have hated me forever.
"Cool." That's all she said before Jace and Derek came to our table. Derek looked anxious and Jace looked as sexy as always.
"Hey guys." I let out cheerfully.
"Nancy, can I talk to you?" Derek asked looking straight into Nancy's eyes. Nancy nodded and left with Derek by her side. Jace sat opposite me.
"What is wrong with them?" I asked confused.
"I'm going to tell you what's going on but you need to stay calm." I nodded slowly. "You promise me?" I nodded again. "Are you sure you're not going to-"
"Jace just spit it out!" I told him. I was super nervous and excited for what I was going to hear. I stared into Jace's eyes and he stared into mine.
"Derek thinks that Nancy is pregnant." Jace said quickly.
"WHAT?" I shouted, my mouth drew open. Jace immediately put his hand over my mouth to shut me up.
"You told me you wouldn't get upset." He started saying rubbing his forehead.
"Why would Derek think that? Didn't they use protection or something?" I asked him seriously and a smirk grew on Jace's lips.
"Obviously not." He whispered in my ear and I chuckled.
"Well that's stupid! I mean, I trust you enough to know that you are putting on a condom and I don't have to worry about anything." I told him looking into his beautiful eyes again. He smiled.
"You trust me?"
"Of course I trust you. We've been friends for six years or something." I spoke.
"You trust me." He stated and smiled even brighter. I smiled back at him. Our cute moment was interrupted by Caddice walking to our table with tears in her eyes.
"Caddice." I whispered getting up going near her. She looked at me and started crying even more. "What is going on?" I asked. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out.
"I'm sorry Jace, I have to go." I said to him and without waiting for a response I walked with Caddice by my side to the girls' bathroom.
"What happened, Caddice?" I asked her when she calmed down a little.
"Nancy. And Derek." I looked at her with shock all over my face.
"Who told you?" I asked her. She opened her mouth to say something but then closed it as she stared at me. She was mad and confused.
"You knew?" She asked bitterly. I sighed.
"Nancy told me a couple of days ago." I told her truthfully looking down at my feet. She gasped.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She raised her voice.
"Because it was none of my business. Nancy should have told you. Or even Derek. He's your boyfriend." I raised my voice as well.
"I thought we were friends." She sighed.
"But we are. That's why i'm here." I put a hand on her shoulder and pulled her in for a hug as she started sobbing again.
"I can't believe, Nancy did that to me." She spoke.
"I know, but you know, it just happened. There's nothing you can do about it now." I told her.
"My boyfriend is cheating on me with my best friend." Caddice exclaimed pulling way from the hug. I couldn't see her like that. Her eyes were really red and tears were streaming and streaming down her cheeks. She really loved Derek. And she really loved Nancy.
"How exactly did you find out?" I asked her randomly. She took a deep breath and chuckled.
"I saw them kissing in the hallway." She spoke. Her voice cracked.
"Oh baby." I said and hugged her once more.
And that's how the lunch went. I was at the bathroom with Caddice the whole break and Nancy didn't say to come and talk to her. I love her with all my heart but really now?
Nancy never realized that Caddice saw her and Derek kissing in the hallway, until Caddice exploded and did this:
"How dare you!" Caddice shouted just when we got out of the bathroom. Nancy was standing in front of some lockers with Chelsea next to her. Caddice walked closer to her and Nancy stood up straight with a confused look on her face.
"What do you mean?" She asked confused. Caddice chuckled.
"You know exactly what i'm talking about! You and Derek!" She shouted at her, tears started to make their appearance in her eyes. I just stood next to her not being able to do anything. I was frozen. Nancy looked at me at a moment with a sad look but I just stared at the ground.
"I can explain everything." Nancy finally said.
"I don't wanna hear it." Caddice spoke. "You destroyed my relationship and our friendship. I don't wanna hear your fucking excuses. I'm done with both of you." She told her and started walking away. Right when Caddice was out of sight, Nancy burst into crying.
"Oh gosh!" I groaned and hugged Nancy tightly.
"It's all my fault." She spoke between sobs. "I shouldn't have slept with Derek, nor kiss him, nor do anything with him. He's my best friend's boyfriend. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have betrayed her." She said. I was just hugging her listening to everything she was saying. Luckily the bell rang so everyone went to class, and the hallway was empty. Just me and Nancy. Crying. And hugging.
"Look, everything happens for a reason, right?" I tried to comfort her. "This whole 'fight' happened for a reason. Don't worry about a thing, okay?" I pulled away from the hug and watched her wiping her tears away from her eyes. I smiled at her slightly and she just stared blankly at me.
"Okay." She finally said.
My best friends got into a fight for a boy. Who would have thought that would ever happen?
