“Recognised Tempest 09.” The female voice of the Zeta beam teleporter tube sounded and Tempest entered the Justice League HQ. “Hey Tempest.” A voice greeted her. “Flash.” She smiled back and began walking to the control room. “You will not believe what happened the other day.” Flash grinned. Tempest looked at him as they continued walking. “The purple streak.” He said excited. “Oh?” she asked unbelievingly, placing Batman as the culprit behind this conversation. “Yeah, it’s a kid for sure. I ran alongside him…” Flash was saying. “Him?” Tempest asked unintentionally. She had gotten so used to Batman calling the streak a girl. “Well, it could be a girl. I don’t know. But that’s not the point.” Flash continued. So this wasn’t Bats up to something, she decided. “The kids got luck on his side.” Flash said. “Her side.” He added quickly remembering Tempest’s question. “What do you mean?” Tempest asked. “Well usually the purple streak is gets a head start so we can’t catch him or her. But this time I was about to get her when Batman called for League business.” Flash shrugged. Tempest began to process his words. Flash looked at his watch. “Oh I’m gonna be late. See ya later.” Flash said and sped his way to the teleporter bay. There was no serious League business, not last night anyways. If there truly was the whole League would have been informed. Batman had done that on purpose. She entered the control room and walked past both the Green Lanterns having an argument completely in their own world. She walked into her office, a privilege only the original eight had. She saw a couple of files at her desk. She stared at it as she sat down. A clear shot picture of the purple streak atop the files. ‘Batman did see purple lightning radiating from her fingers’ a voice in her head said. ‘Batman is rarely wrong.’ Her voice continued in her head. ‘Key word being - rarely. Maybe he is wrong this time.’ She thought to herself.  She pushed the thought out of her mind and moved the photo out of her line of sight. She picked up the file and looked at it surprised. The Purple streak was her latest assignment, she realized. Batman was in charge of assigning cases.
