She woke up, almost screaming. She checked her surroundings and noticed she was in a hospital. The pain suddenly kicked in and lay back down, groaning quietly. Her hands were in a cast and her arm heavily bandaged. She had stitches in her face and the room was spinning. She couldn’t remember anything that happened. She watched as a Draculoid walked into the room with a doctor. “Ah you’re awake Miss Smith. How are you feeling?”

“Confused and in pain. I don’t remember anything before you ask. It’s all fuzzy at the moment I might be able to give you something later” she replied. The Drac nodded and the doctor came over to check on her.

“Blood pressure is still low and I’m still concerned that you have been asleep for about 3 days. We’ll keep you in for a few days and see how we go from there.”

“What are the injuries?”

“You have a nasty laceration to your cheek, two broken hands, acid burns and mild infection. Everything is all patched up but you need rest right now.”

Ghoul was sat in the car, staring across the desert plains. Kobra had gone inside to get cleaned up as he was covered in blood. Ghoul was angry and confused but he knew it was the right thing to do. He watched as Poison and Jet returned, tired and sore from driving all day. “What happened?”

“Dracs happened. Freaking nut jobs. Where’s Kobra?”

“Inside cleaning blood off. We got ambushed too” Ghoul said quietly. Poison nodded and headed inside.

“You heard anything from them?”

“Nothing. I don’t even know if she’s alive. I need to see her but if I go into the city they’ll capture me” he sighed. Jet nodded.

“We’ll find a way” he said reassuringly. Ghoul nodded quietly and got out the car. They headed back inside and Ghoul just stared at the transmitter. Nothing was happening.

She woke up a few hours later after falling asleep. She felt even worse now she woke up. She sat herself up using the bed as the doctor walked back into the room. “How are you feeling? Is the morphine strong enough?”

“I feel worse now I’ve woken up. Can we make it stronger? It’s not really doing anything” she said. He nodded and adjusted the flow of the medication. “Can I speak to the people who rescued me? I would like to thank them” she asked. The doctor nodded and went to get Korse.

He returned back along with her boss, who had his signature scary smile. “So glad to see you awake. We have found the culprit responsible for kidnapping and torturing you. I do, however, need to ask you a question that has me concerned. When we caught him and took him into the holding cell, he kept saying that you were working along side those disgusting Killjoys. Is this true?”

“Of course not. I would never work with them. Is it true that they saved my life?”

“Yes that is true.”

“I would like to thank them for it, if that is possible?”

“Of course. I will send someone to retrieve them and you will get the chance to thank them personally” he said. She smiled and thanked him before he left the room, leaving her to rest.

“Hey guys? There is a Drac car approaching us!” Kobra called out. They all ran outside, armed with their guns. The dusty white car stopped and 2 Dracs got out.

“We have been told to summon the two that saved Kasi from her kidnapping. She would like to thank you both personally as she is awake” one of them said. Ghoul and Kobra looked at each other.

“Only if we can take our car and not yours” Ghoul said. They nodded and Poison handed the keys over. He took them and they both got into the car, leaving the other two stood there looking confused.

They followed the white car into the city and toward the hospital building. “3rd floor ICU” one of them said. They nodded and walked inside, heading toward the lifts. They walked in and pressed the button, standing quietly next to each other and feeling very uncomfortable. The lift pinged open and they walked into the ward, looking around for her. As soon as they spotted her, they walked briskly over to her bed.

“Hey” Ghoul smiled.

“Hey. Thanks for saving me” she said. He nodded.

“What are you injuries and how bad are they?”

“Two broken hands are the worst. Other than that it’s cuts bruises and burns. Nothing serious” she said. They nodded.

“We should have gotten there sooner to get you out. How long are you in hospital for?”

“No idea. I’ve been in a coma for 3 days and they were worried about my blood pressure being so low” she explained. Kobra looked at her before hugging her tightly. She winced.

“Sorry.”

“It’s okay. Its just painful” she said, smiling weakly. He loosened his grip and Ghoul went in and gave her a hug. She hugged him back.

“So when will you back to work?”

“So far, I have no idea. No one does. Until my blood pressure gets back to normal and my injuries recover, I’m having to rest. If my blood pressure drops anymore, there is a risk of brain damage and a heart attack” she sighed. They nodded.

They had been talking for hours when someone came in and told them it was time to leave. They looked disappointed. They said their goodbyes and they walked out of the ward and back down to their car. They felt much better knowing that she was still alive and that she was getting better. They needed to try and keep in contact with her but that would be difficult without blowing her cover. It had nearly been blown when she had been kidnapped. Thankfully, she managed to keep her tracks covered and the guy who kidnapped her was locked up. Couldn’t say the same about the girl who was with him. The traitor.

The two men got in the car and headed back out to zone 6. The sound of an explosion got their attention, and so did the explosion that followed.
