As Ray drove further and further toward the city, the bright white and black logo of BLI appeared on the billboards leading into and around the city. His eyes widened slightly when he noticed what they were doing. Drugging the residents so that they would have no emotions except happiness. They had created what they thought to be a perfect world. The scariest part was, the only colours in the city were black and white. There was no colour, no music. Nothing artistic at all and scared Ray shitless. He did a forced U turn and sped back toward their temporary home. That was until a new Exterminate poster caught his eye. He ripped it off the wall and sped back as fast as the car would go.
He got out the car, covered it up and shot down like a lightning bolt. “Have you seen what their calling us?!”
“No. What are they calling us?”
“Killjoys!” They looked at him confused. He chucked the poster onto the make-shift table. They stared at it long and hard. “’Reward given if these criminals are bought to Better Living for extermination’ what the fuck is extermination? What are they? Fucking Daleks?!”
“I don’t know but it doesn’t sound good. We seriously need a new image and new identities. Fuck we need masks!”
“I have some pretty badass ones back here. Except one of them is a Frankenstein mask, 2 are helmets and the other one just covers the eyes. I already have dibs on the little one.”
“I’ll come take a look at what there is available and then make a choice” Mikey said. They got up and headed over to the small box that was filled with the stuff they had robbed. Mikey had picked up a bright yellow helmet with red, white and blue rings above the closed visor. He looked at it and nodded. “I’ll take this one. I’m making adjustments to it though. Where are the sticky bits of plastic and a knife?”
“In the cupboard in the kitchen” Gerard said, pulling his little yellow mask out the box and putting it around his neck.
Ray picked up a grey helmet with a what looked like a breathing tube stretching across the outside of it and a black visor. He was more than happy with it. Frank picked up the Frankenstein mask. It had purple/pink skin and bright green hair. He kept hold of it and walked out quietly, leaving Gerard and Ray stood there. “He’s really unhappy isn’t he?”
“I don’t know whether it’s being unhappy or being angry. Either way we better make a move and see what shit is going down in the new city” Gerard said. Ray nodded.
“What about new names? I love the red by the way. Very rebellious” he smiled. Gerard grinned.
“I’m naming my gun Party Poison.”
“That sounds cool. I’ll start calling you Party Poison” he chuckled. Gerard grinned.
“That sounds cool. Jet Star sounds good for you!”
“What about the other two?”
“Fun Ghoul and Kobra Kid” he grinned. Ray nodded and they walked out to find them.
Kasi watched the sun set as the bus pulled up outside a small set of houses. “This is the final stop. You have your keys. On your set of keys there is a number and that is your home. Welcome to Battery City” the Draculoid said. They all climbed out of the bus with their bags and started along the street for their houses. Kasi pulled out her set of keys and looked at the number.
“30” she muttered. It had always been an unlucky number for her but she didn’t complain. It was a home that had food and a decent bed in it. Sure, the clothes they were required to wear weren’t the best but it was better than running around without any.
