Justin's voice was so pure and clean, a silk ribbon running through a rough patch of thorns. A beam of sunlight shining through dark grey clouds.
His voice rang along the edge and wove through each blade of grass.
"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me-" his eyes found my gaze, "I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now, I see".
I sat up and crossed my legs, listening intently with a big smile plastered onto my face. My hair was so wet, water dripped down my back and I let the warm breeze dry me.
Justin carried on singing while unpacking all the food. At the high notes he stopped and a vein appeared on his neck, it was a blessed sight.
Once he had stopped I gave him a round of applause and shouted "that's my baby!"
He was my baby.
-
After an hour of snacking and joking around I fiddled around to find my phone. I had to call mom to let her know where I was.
"What are you doing?" Justin chuckled.
"I have to call my mom silly, I don't want her to get worried,"
"Jules don't worry, I've got it, she already knows I told her in the morning when I saw her leaving for work, I told her we're staying here overnight as well, she was pleased, said something about getting you away from it all,"
"Oh, thanks," I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him, "that was very thoughtful of you," I whispered.
"Anything for you Jules," he led his hands up to the back of my bra and started kissing me harder.
I stopped and pulled my lips apart from his.
"Justin, I-"
He stopped and looked me in the eyes, his brown milky eyes desperate for more.
"Sorry Justin, not now, not yet," I mumbled, I placed my hands on his chest and watched it rise and fall along with his breath.
"It's ok, I understand," he kissed my forehead and lay down allowing me to rest my head on top of his chest. Then he wrapped us around in blankets.
The sun had begun to set and a beautiful sunset was appearing along the edge. Beauty.
Justin began to breathe more heavily as he dozed off. I circled my finger around his holy cross tattoo until he was in deep sleep and then just like him, fell asleep, under the stars.
-
The next morning I woke up first, for the first time since I can remember I had woken up before 7am. It was 6:37 when I checked my phone.
So I lifted my head and looked up around me, Justin was laying sound asleep, his hair sticking up in all directions and his beautiful face laying in a peaceful way. The grass was damp with mist and the water was calm and dark. The sun hadn't rose yet so I decided to get up and sit with my legs dangling in the water.
I brushed the wet grass and sat in silence until sunrise. Then I admired the beauty of nature and gazed up at the sky in utter silence.
-
An hour later Justin and I were sitting back in the Jeep, dressed and ready to head back.
"Hungry?" He asked me while starting the engine.
"Positively starving," I giggled.
-
We pulled up in front of a small café in town, not far from our houses. Justin bought us a sandwich each and coffee, while I sighed and promised him I'll pay him back later.
"There's no need, honestly," he insisted with a grin.
We sat across from each other in comfortable silence while munching on our fresh, delicious sandwiches.
My phone started ringing and I answered it absent-minded, convinced it was mom.
"Julia?" A deep voice answered.
Shit.
"Um hey, I can't talk to you right now Chase,"
FÜCK.
"Oh, can you call back ASAP?" He sounded distant and different.
"Sure, um yeah I will in about an hour, sorry,"
"Ok, that's fine um..bye babe,"
"Bye." I hit the end call button and shoved my phone back into my pocket.
"A friend of yours?" Asked Justin politely in between sips of coffee.
"Yep,"
