The familiar sound of clicking heels woke me the next morning. I leaped out of bed and ran down stairs in my flimsy power puff girls pj's.
"Mom!" I called out happily, a huge grin appearing on my face. No matter how used I was to her leaving for business for days at a time, I would always miss her.
She turned from the nespresso machine and held out her hands to allow me to hug her.
"Darling! You good kid?" She spoke softly into my messed up hair as I breathed in her scent of channel. Ugh I missed her.
"Yeah mom, I guess," we broke apart and she went to take her heels off.
"We have some talking to do," she called out from the hallway.
I groaned at her words, this was going to be difficult.
She came back and took her coffee then sat on one of the huge arm chairs.
"I'm sorry mom," I huffed while I heaved myself onto the couch, sitting cross legged and preparing myself for a long lecture.
"What happened kiddo?" She sipped her coffee calmly.
I explained everything to her. And by everything I mean everything.
From me going out clubbing to getting drunk, ending up naked in Justin's bed, winning a stupid game to New York, and Daniel breaking in and the police.
"I left for 5 days, Julia there's never any problems when I leave because I know you're smart and responsible," she rubbed her temples and continued to sip on her coffee.
"I know mom, I've made the biggest mess ever," I sighed.
"So when's the court case?"
"August 9th,"
"A day after you're meant to arrive from New York?" She raised her eyebrows.
"Yeah, crazy right,"
"Are you sure you should go to this New York trip? That's a lot on your shoulders kid,"
"I know mom but, I don't know at the same time," I fell so that I could lie down comfortably on the couch.
"Julia, you're 18 now, you have to be independent and make your own decisions, you have to take responsibility and care for yourself, the fact that you got yourself in this situation is because you slipped up shows just how much one wrong decision can impact you. Of course I'm angry, but I'm trying to stay calm because that wouldn't really help this situation, would it?"
"Mhm," I mumbled.
"So this is the deal, I help you out a bit with the court things, give you a bit of advice, but you are paying for your own advocate and apart from that you're on your own. Decide on New York, on everything. You're a young woman now, you have to learn to be independent,"
"Yes mom,"
"Jules I love you so much, this whole situation isn't as bad as you probably think, I'm not angry about the things happening, I'm angry that you let them happen. Now you're going to learn from your actions,"
I nodded slowly, taking everything in.
"Hey kid, It's going to be alright," she stood up and began making her way upstairs.
"Thanks mom, love you," I stood up too, going to make myself breakfast.
"Don't we all?" She called from upstairs.
This woman, Jesus Christ.

The next two days were weirdly quiet. I had arranged to meet with an advocate the two days before I flew out, yes I was still going New York. I guess Justin was busy since the only time I saw him was when I was going grocery shopping, getting into my car while he was emptying the trash. He beamed at me and waved but I had to quickly leave since Yasmine told me she would show her beautiful ass at mine in less than an hour. Which meant I had a tight schedule to fill my fridge.
-
When I arrived home with handfuls of heavy ass grocery bags my goddess was already sitting in her Chevy flicking through her phone in front of the house.
"Another stranger at my yard," I laughed. She was startled by my sudden appearance.
"You bitch, I was shook," she got out her car and rushed over to grab some of the bags I was heaving. "You're so stubborn, instead of taking a few at a time you take everything!"
"Sorry Hun," I teased her.
"Anyway I'm not here for lecturing you, I'm here for nice ass coffee and to talk about New York,"
I opened the front door for her and followed her in.
"Jesus, what about it b?" I rolled my eyes.
She placed the bags on the kitchen island. "Honey, everything, honestly!" She whined.
"Hit me with it,"
"I already texted the guys, we're meeting 9am since our flight is 1pm. At my house, I have the biggest garage so I can fit alla your expensive ass cars in there and keep them babies safe until we come back. Luckily for you, we land back in Stratford exactly a week later, August 8th at 3pm. That gives you tons of time to get ready for the 9th. And also, I checked the hotel penthouse we're staying in and Julia, it's so fucking pretty!!!" She beamed while sipping her fresh made coffee.
"Wow, you are a planner, I haven't even had time to look at what I'm packing. And one thing,"
She nodded for me to go ahead.
"9am?" I raised my eyebrows, closing my now filled fridge.
"Gives us 4 hours to get our shit together," she smiled.
"Fair enough,"
She stayed for another 3 hours, helping me start packing. We talked about what my mom said and obviously the court case.
Once she had left it was already 7pm and so I guess another relatively quiet day.
"God I need this vacation," I thought while I sat alone in the kitchen eating dinner. "Fuck adult shit,"
