Can't Be Talking

Beyonce-
I sit beside Toni nervously as I watch my mother calmly sitting across from us. I'm highly scared because she hasn't said one word since she told Taraji and Janet to leave and told Toni and me to take a sit in the living room, which is where we have been for the past ten minutes. In absolute silence, Toni and me scared to even breath let alone speak.

The sound of the door opening causes Toni to jump beside me causing my hand to instantly reach out towards her to comfort her. My mothers eyes follows said hand with intensity but I don't retreat it from Toni's own shaking hand, I already made her doubt my love once, I won't have her doubting it again. Richards deep voice snaps my mother and me out of our intense glaring contest and I frown slightly as I feel and see Toni jump again. I vow then that whatever happens, whatever they say, I will always protect Toni from whoever and whatever.

Toni-
I sit in shock as I feel Beyonce's soft hand tangle with my shaking one. I can't believe she is trying to still my frazzled nerves even as her mom razer sharp glare is burning a hole through the both of us.

This is the third time I have ever been this scared, the first was when Will was pinning me down forcibly to the bed, and the second when my own parents rejected me. A shiver runs down my spin just thinking about the situations. I start to realize I might be finding myself in the same situation because of someone I couldn't help but fall in love with. I suddenly wish I had brought the inhaler that was left behind carelessly at my parents house with me because I start feeling the beginnings of a panic attack coming on. I jump again as Mr. Lawson starts speaking, well here goes nothing.

Tina-
My first thought when seeing my daughters tongue shoved down somebody was anger, until that somebody was shown and it was delight. My baby has been talking about Toni ever since she came to her school and though she didn't tell me she was gay, it didn't take Einstein to figure out that she had a big crush on her.

I was going to applaud right along with the two girls that was standing at my kitchen door but after seeing how scared Toni and my baby looked I decide to have a little bit of fun with them. I wish I would have known it would have been so hard to keep a straight face though because I'm pretty sure my face is going to have a permanent glare to it now. I break the glaring contest from my oldest daughter as my husband starts speaking.

"Hey ladies...what's going on?" He asks as he looks from me to Beyonce and finally to Toni then back to me again.

"How about you two tell him" I growl fixing my glare back to the both of them.

I swear I should have been an actress this is an performance worthy of an Oscar.

"Nothing" I hear Beyonce mumble drawing me out of the speech I was giving to an audience of my own.

"Nothing? So y'all playing tongue twister in my kitchen is nothing?" I say making sure to say the words with as much venom as I possess. Damn I'm good!

"Well if you already know what happened why did you need us to tell him when you could have easily told him yourself?" Beyonce counters just as venomously.

I nod on the inside, she is good I think. I suddenly go back to all the times we have argued in the past, how her sharp tongue got her to win must of the the times. She was most definitely the hardest out of my two girls to raise, only because she had a swift comeback to everything.

"Okay calm down ladies, can somebody explain what happened?" Richard asks as he looks from me to Beyonce them finally to Toni who has been silent throughout the whole thing.

After a long moment of silence a knock sounds at the door making Toni jump up.

"Umm th-that should be my brother he said he was going to bring me my keys earlier so I..." she looks down nervously as she rambles before hurriedly running to the door.

Making sure that Toni is going Beyonce turns back towards me looking me straight in the eye "look momma I know you might be angry but please don't take this out on Toni she has already been through so much..."

I stare into her eyes seeing how sincere she actually is and hear the passion behind her voice. She actually cares for her, maybe I took this joke thing a little too far. Footsteps snaps me out of my reverie and I look up to see Toni, her brother and small girl with pigtails hiding behind Toni's legs.

"This is my twin brother Mikey, and my baby sister Tamar" Toni says as she picks the little girl up into her arms. "And this is Mrs. Lawson and her husband Mr. Lawson and you already know Beyonce Mikey."

"Yeah and it's nice to meet you by I want to thank you both for letting my sister stay here" Mikey says as he shakes Richards and my hand.

"Its no problem your sister has been a joy to have around" Richard as he looks purposely at me.

I nod before turning towards Toni and her sister who is still attached to to her "she really has and I owe her and my daughter an apology, I wasn't really angry about...earlier, I actually wasn't surprised but I'm sorry for making you two think I was." I say as I look between the two who look at me in surprise.

"Angry about what TT?" Her sister says as she removes her head from the crook of her neck to look into her eyes.

Before Toni can speak Richard interrupts her "how about we all go eat I can order in something for lunch and Toni can spend time with her siblings?" He suggests and everyone nods.

"I will go wake up Solange and make sure you order enough for Bianca for when she get home later" I say and he nods before reaching down to kiss me. I smirk as I see the frowns on the teens faces and Tamar's before looking at Toni and Beyonce "y'all really can't be talking after this morning." I laugh as blushes crosses over their faces.
