Slowly, it seems the drama of the year is starting to fade away. The clouds are beginning to part to whole new opportunities, and I'm going to take part in them.
But, my adventures cannot begin until I get through the stupid school day. Did I mention this is the second to last day of school?
So, currently I am sitting in my final class before the day is done. Basically all there is tomorrow is yearbook signing and then, someone is hosting a pool party. There's also this special ceremony that's supposed to happen, it happens every year, but I don't know what it is yet because this was my first year as you know.
Ugh, and of course my last class is math, still with the same friendly woman from my first day, Mrs. Valentina, but I guess I have learned I'm not that interested in math, although I'm pretty good at it.
She continues to blabber about fractions, decimals, and percents, but no one is interested. She finally just stops talking at once and rolls her eyes jokingly before wishing us a good summer and sends us on our way.
The Next Day-
I wake early to pack my bag for the day. I'm also meeting up with the girls to walk to school, and afterwards we're having a 'beginning of summer' sleepover at Kit's.
Once I've packed my sleepover bag and swim bag ( for the pool party), I head outside and meet up with Kit before we retrieve Molly from her home.
When we get to school, I grab a yearbook and pen from Mr. C and we all scurry around getting signatures from friends. Even some boys ask me for my signature.
Soon enough, we leave school for the summer. I'm glad Kit lives next door to me so we can see each other a lot this summer, and Molly is only a couple blocks over.
We reach the pool party, and basically our entire class is there.
There's me, Molly, Kit, Emma ( the hostess), Marie, Ben, David, Henry, Aidan, and Spencer. Yeah, our class has only 10 people in it. Guess North Carolina doesn't have a very big population. Or maybe it's just here.
Emma and Marie come to us when we walk through the door. Emma has long, straight black hair, where as Marie has curly reddish-brown. They're both wearing tight bikinis, and have their hair in high ponytails.
When we get ready in the hallway bathroom, they do our hair in the same way.
The five of us later come out to greet the boys who are kicking around and fighting one another in the pool. They stop to look over at us, before they continue their round of 'chicken fight'.
We soon join in, and Kit and I lose a fight to Marie and Emma.
Finally, when the day is done, and Molly and I are under our sleeping bags in Kit's bedroom, everything feels so surreal. After all this time, and everything that happened this year, how could it be done so fast, like everything is gone in a flash? What will come next year, a whole new wave of 7th grade fear?
