Chapter 20- Mom Finds Out

After a couple of hours after Kit left, I hear my mom come home. I can hear her thump around in the kitchen before she suddenly appears in my doorway.

" Do you want to explain this message to me?" She says. " is this why you wanted to stay home?"

" I was going to tell you, but..."

" Spit it out right now McKenna Skye."

" Kit found a mean page about me posted on some social media written by some boys in my grade at school." It felt good to finally tell someone that, although I know it will ruin my chances of ever getting an Instagram.

" What?!?!??" My mom yells. She rushes over to me and just holds me. We sit here like this for what seems to be eternity.

Before long she's called the principal and set up a time for the three of us to talk. I know it won't help my case but she insisted and I can't back out of it now that I told her what really happened at school.

The Next Day-

My mom and I walk into school. I feel the glares of the other kids as they look up to see me. The principal gives a warm smile as she motions for us to sit at the chairs across from her desk as she shuts the door.

Everything is quiet for a couple of seconds, then Mrs. Blooming begins to talk.

" I'm so sorry that something like this has happened. We can't shut it down sadly since it is something that isn't run by the school, but we can try to stop it. We just can't control what goes on outside of school.

" Can't you do something?" My mom says defensively.

" No really. We can't control the kids' phones or things they do on them. But, I've come up with a plan. We can let the parents know and have an assembly about no bullying. We wouldn't mention you in particular to make it draw attention, but maybe that would open people's eyes to what's going on. Does this plan work for you McKenna?"

I shake my head. And soon enough as I found out, Mrs. Blooming's plan worked.
