As we sat there leaned up against the brick wall, holding each others hands and looking into the night sky. I looked over at him and smiled as he continued to look up.
But the longer I looked at his perfectly defined face I grew cautious and afraid, like what is going to happen if we don't have the same mark? Will we rebel against the law or would we be afraid and walk away from something that we just started.
He looked over at me and reached out and put his warm silk like hands around my face. He pulled my head closer to his and kissed my forehead.
I pulled slowly away and looked at him,
"I'm scared"
He looked me in the eyes and said the five words that will echo in my mind forever "I will fight for you".
When he said that I could feel my self smile then tears streamed down my face.
He giggled and wiped away the tears that we not of sorrow but of joy.
I laid my head on his lap as he wrapped his arm around my waist.
I did not want to fall asleep though, I was truly afraid of what would happen the next morning.
I turned over on my back and looked at him, his head was leaned back against the wall. I then looked at the stars, wondering if this thing that made this law could see what we were doing right now.I pleaded to them in my mind even though they didn't deserve it.
But at that time that was the only thing I could do.
Tears crawled down the sides of my face, making my vision blurry.
I blinked and closed my eyes for a second but that second turned to hours, the next thing I knew it was morning, the sun beating down on my skin warming me up.
I slowly opened my eyes squinting at the light.
I sat up to find Matt not there, I panicked, I got up quickly moving along side of the brick wall. I looked on the other side to see if he was there but he wasn't. I fell to my knees, the only thing I could think of was he saw my mark and it was not the same as his so he fled to safety.
I didn't want to think that though, I knew or I hoped he wouldn't do that to me after all we have been through.
I then heard someone walked up behind me. I turned around to see it was Matt.
"What happened"?
I ran up to him grasping him.
"I thought you left because you saw my mark."
He pulled me away and looked fiercely at me, "why would you think that?" "I told you I would fight for you."
I looked down and whispered softly
"But why would you risk your life for me?"
He put his finger under my chin lifting it up,
"Because I love you."
I looked up at him,
"Did you see my mark yet?"
"No, I wanted to wait till you woke up."
I then began to look for the mark but all I really had to do was look at my thigh. It was plain as day but felt so cold.I started crying, he looked down and saw why.He pulled me closer hugging me.
I buried my head into his chest thinking this may be the last time I hug him until he whispered in my ear, "Are you ready?"
I looked up at him confused on what he meant.
"What do you mean?" I said as my voice trembled.
"To fight for each other."
