Things were going good for me and Ponyboy. It's been a month since he asked me to be his girlfriend, but we haven't gone on our first date yet. Our first date will be tonight at Five O'clock and I couldn't be more excited. I'm also really nervous though. It's my first real date and I am just jumping for joy! With all that has been going on, it will be a nice break to get to spend time with Ponyboy. As of right now it is Four Thirty and I still have to finish getting ready.

Right now I am currently in my little closet, trying to pick out something to wear for me and Pony's date. I decided on a black and white dress with daisies on it. It has a black zipper running down the first half of the front of the dress. I matched that with dark red tights and black combat boots (picture on the side). I didn't know what Pony and I were doing so didn't dress up to fancy.

I put on a little bit of make-up which includes a small amount of foundation to cover up the bruises and scars, a light-gold eye shadow to make my hazel-green eyes pop, and just a smidge of mascara. After I finished my make up, I plugged in my curling iron and sat on my bed to wait for it to heat up. Once I finished putting my hair into banana curls, I looked at my refection in my large mirror hanging on the door. I looked really good. Once satisfied with my look, I snuck out my window and climbed down the tree next to it.

You may be wondering why I had to sneak out of my own house. Well the answer to that is my dad. If he caught me looking like this, he would know something was up. After he would force the answer out of me, he would hurt me and make sure I didn't go. He would honestly do anything he could for me not to be happy. But then I remember what is really going on.

I keep forgetting. He. is. Dead. Don't I seem like such a bad daughter? Forgetting that her parents are dead? Well the truth is he never cared about me and I never saw him much anyways. It like he was just a stranger living in my house. I had the best relationship with my family, didn't I? All that climbing down the tree for nothing.

I walked down the street to Ponyboys house and I knocked a couple times on the door. Steve opened it and as soon as he saw me, his jaw dropped and his eyes looked like they were bulging out of the sockets. I shyly looked down at my dress and patted it down, trying to get some of the wrinkles to disappear.

"S-Steve? What's wrong? Do I look bad? Do-" I was interrupted from my rambling when he started talking.

"No no no Jessica, you look hot! It's so different from what you normally wear; it just took me a minute to get used to it. Ponyboys going to love it!" he said.

"What am I going to love?" Ponyboy asked while walking over to us.

As soon as he saw me, he had the same reaction as Steve. Pure shock. His reaction was soon replace by a genuine smile.

"Hi Ponyboy. You ready to go?" I ask shyly.

"Um y-yeah, let me just go get my shoes on. You look amazing!" he said also shyly. I wonder if this is his first real date too. By real I mean not the ones he had with his fake girlfriend Cherry Valance.

Ponyboy turned and left, leaving me to go in the kitchen and talk to Two-bit or Sodapop, seeing that Darry was still at work. He really works too much for someone his age. It's amazing how fast he and Ponyboy and Sodapop have had to grow up. It breaks my heart that they actually had a good relationship with their parents and they still lost them.

It's truly a cruel world we live in.

After a minute of small talk with Soda and Two-bit, Ponyboy came back wearing a nice tight fitting blue shirt, a worn out leather jacket, a pair of jeans and his converse sneakers.

Without saying a word, he walked over and grabbed my hand, pulling me out the door behind him.

"Have fun on your date!" I heard Steve yell behind us.

"We will." I called back to him.

"Not too much fun though!" Soda yelled.

Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw Ponyboy blush but I'm not sure. I couldn't hear anything else because Ponyboy shut the door.

I looked at him for a moment while we started walking towards our destination. What did I do to deserve being here, next to Ponyboy? Maybe this is god's way for making up for all those Soc attacks!

As I looked up at the cloudy sky, I couldn't help but hope that this will be a Soc-free night.
