chapter 16

KELLIN'S POV
everyone got quiet when we heard Kayla yell, "YOU TWO FUCKING FLEW ACROSS THE ATLANTIC OCEAN WITHOUT TELLING ME OR BRYCE OR MEGAN GOODBYE?! THAT IS THE MOST SELFISH, IGNORANT THING YOU'VE EVER DONE LEAH"
followed shortly by "YOU LITTLE BITCH!" and two loud bangs.

I handed Bryce to Jaime and jetted up the stairs, to find Kayla sitting on the floor in our room gently cradling her right hand.

"baby," I grabbed her shoulders and stood her up, moving her to the bed, "what's going on?"

"L-L-Leah went back t-to Europe and sh-she didn't tell us" Kayla leaned into my chest, her body wracking with sobs as she stumbled over her words.

"baby calm down..." I said as I soothingly ran my hand through her hair and held her close.

"sh-she's my bestfriend. and n-now she h-hates me" Kayla kept crying, and I just gently rocked her back and forth, unable to find the right words to make her feel better.

"Leah's just going through some stuff right now honey... she doesn't hate you. no one could ever hate you."

I heard a gentle knock on the door and Megan slowly pushed it open.

"what happened?" she asked quietly, sitting down on Kayla's other side and holding one of her hands.
Kayla's sobs had turned to quiet crying now, and she was able to tell Megan the whole story.

"wow...." Megan looked down in disbelief, and started typing something on her phone "I don't know what her issue is lately."

"I just want the old Leah back... the Leah that would never kiss my boyfriend or go half-way across the world without telling us bye." Kayla said quietly.

"yeah... I know what you mean," Megan said, hugging her tightly. "but hey, we're at a party! get your ass up, fix your makeup, and lets go have fun with the people we love!"
I looked at Kayla, nervous for her reaction. But Megan's words of encouragement worked.
everything that had just happened seemed to disappear, and Kayla fixed her makeup and we went downstairs.

"sorry guys." she smiled nervously.

my band members surrounded her with hugs for the second time that day.
"aw poor baby"
"there there"
"it's okay Kayla"
"we love you"
I smiled, thankful that my bestfriends loved her and protected her like a sister.

they released her, and she came up to me and sat on my lap, wrapping her hands around my neck.

"I love you so much," she said quietly, pressing her forehead against mine.

"I love you too," I smiled at her, and I swear those ridiculously perfect green eyes made the room a little brighter.

"hey, I haven't gotten a proper hug!" tony pulled at her arm, and she quickly stood up, wrapping her arms around his neck. he laughed because she had to stand on her tip-toes to do it.

"shut up you little turtle" she said, releasing him and punching him in the stomach.

"ouch!" he said, feigning injury.
she stuck her tongue out at him like a 5 year old and the three of us laughed.

"I seriously can't get enough of this little dude!" Jaime said, sitting next to me with Bryce.

"awh, well have one!" Kayla said, leaning down and kissing Bryce on the cheek.

"that's not anatomically possible" Jaime laughed at her.

"you know what I mean" she narrowed her eyes at him before walking away.
