As the rain slipped down the window, the only aubile nosie was the car's wheels speeding along the dark road. Through the glass of the window i could see the tribe house grow larger through the trees. I sucked in what seemed like usless air. i hadn't been at the house for an entire year. In such little time the building had turned from the place I called home to somewhere of uncertainty and doubts.
When the car slowed a hault, my dad opened the door and jogged around to the back opening the trunk, retriving my bags. He then jogged around to my side of the car opening the door for me. I gave him a weak smile as he murmered, "Welcome home August." I looked at the old man's face, all weather-beaten, surrounding his mouth and eyes were wrinkles from laughter and smiles. He looked so different from before I when to boarding school.
I stepped out of the car scaning the mansion in front of me. The house itself hadn't changed much just my opinion on it I guess. My focus turned to the slamming of one of the front doors, my mother came rushing toward me, hysterical the I was home. "MOM!" I screamed. She scoped me into a loving, but crushing hug. I began to cry, letting the feeling of homesickness slowly drift away. I grasped on to her until she pulled away ushering me inside, out of the rain.
She hugged me one last time before bombarding me with questions.
"Honey how was your flight? Oh you must be so tired! How was boarding school? Did you make any new friends?" I laughed and put my hands on her shoulders.
"Mom calm down. Everything was great, the flight wasn't too horrible, boarding school was great, and of course I made new friends, their names are Jamie and Nicole."
Even though I love my mother all I really wanted to do was unpack and sleep, I was actually exgausted from the trip and needed rest.
"Well that's wonderful," she said in a softer tone, "I kept your room the same if you wanna go and head upstairs, we can talk later."
I thanked her and shuffled to my room. I opened the door to the same lavendor room with white and black trimming, my bags already set on the floor. I swung them onto the bed unzipping them only half way until I felt his presence. I didn't turn around knowing I would melt from his gaze and my heartbeat would quicken.
"So you're back?" He asked, his smooth male tone sending shivers up my spine.
"Yes, but what's it to you?"
"I was just asking, no need to get testy." Jax replied.
"WHERE IS SHE?" I heard Megan's voice coming from the hall,"WHERE IN THE WORLD IS MY BEST FRIEND!?"
I laughed as she came in, tackling me with a hug.
"How are you!" she squealed, " I've missed you so much, skyping and chating on facebook are not enough for me."
I looked at my greastest friend and began to tell her all about my time in Boston. How I made new friends and experinced new events.
"Sounds like you had a great time. Well I'll leave you to your unpacking, come on babe."
I froze. Call me crazy but never have I ever heard Megan call me babe. Then it clicked in my mind, if it wasn't me she was refering to then-
"Alright baby lets go." Jax pulled Megan into a very long kiss that seemed like an eturnity, every second of it only killed a small part of me.
Never ever, in one million years had I ever thought that Jax rejecting me would lead to Megan and him being in a relationship. One year ago I ran from my problems hoping that moving away would help the pain faid. But now that I was back, seeing Megan and Jax being initmate in the hallway, they made it seem like a 9 inch dagger was being shoved into my heart and twisted.
My best friend was in love with my mate.
