Riley's P.O.V.

"Why were you out in the woods last night. You obviously needed a doctor, but where were you going?" I asked Rick, crossing my leather-covered arms over my chest.

"There's a community. Hilltop. They have a doctor. Maggie, she's gonna have a baby, and...something happened. That's why we were out there."

"We're helping her, too. I don't know what state she's in right now, but I'll check in later today or tomorrow. That other man... He was hurt pretty badly. We're doing our best to help him, but he doesn't look too good. I hate to say it, but I don't know if he's gonna make it."

"I want to thank you. Really. You saved us all out there."

"It's not a problem. I knew what he, Negan, was capable of and why he did what he did... It hurt a little after I killed him, him being my father and all, but I realized he was better off dead. It would be better for him, better for all of our groups, and better for me, even," my voice trailed off at the end, and I thought about what life would've been like if I hadn't killed him. We'd all be his slaves, sentenced to live by his commands, including me. I snapped out of it once I realized that Rick was still standing right in front of me. "Anyway, if you know about Hilltop, then you probably know Jesus, correct?"

"Yeah."

"Do you get along with any other groups besides Hilltop?" I asked the man, thinking.

"There have been groups we tried to get along with, but either they tried to kill us or the place got overrun with walkers," Rick replied, placing his hands on his belt.

"What did you do when they tried to kill you?" I asked, although I already had an idea of what the answer would be.

"We killed them. We had to."

"I understand. You won't have to worry about that here, though. We know Hilltop, too. We get along with each other, we meet frequently, and we both hated Negan because he made us give up half of our supplies, too. We'll have to tell Jesus that Negan is dead and that we ran into you and your group. Speaking of which, where are you all from?"

He hesitated, but answered with, "A place called Alexandria. It's another community."

"Cool, maybe we could team up or something if we ever come across another enemy," I suggested. I looked him up and down, searching for signs that he was lying or making things up, but I found none.

"Maybe," Rick said, looking like he was thinking about my offer.

"Did you happen to see any, well, tigers? Like, on your way here?"

Rather hesitantly, he answered with, "No, why?" and I could he was clearly intrigued by my question.

"Tell your son you'll be back in a bit. You need to see something," I told Rick with a small smirk, but it quickly disappeared when Colton came walking down the hall.

"Hey Rils. What are you up to? And who's this?" he asked me, motioning to Rick with a small smile, and I then began the introductions.

"Colton, meet Rick. Rick, this is Colton," I said, gesturing to each of them as I said their names. Although Colton had a sudden suspicious - and maybe disgusted - look in his eyes, he shook hands with the stranger, and I mentally let out a sigh of relief that he didn't start anything, but I didn't jump to the conclusion that they accepted each other because both of them stayed completely silent.

"I just came up to see how that kid's doing, see if he needs anything and stuff," he informed me, keeping eye contact.

"Alright. You do that, and I'll talk to you later. I have to tell you something, okay?" I said and, after he nodded and entered the room, I told Rick, who had a suspicious look on his face, to follow me. We left the Infirmary, him following close behind me as we walked down the steps and out to the street.
