Chapter 8: Settling In

Katherine's POV

We drive from the airport to the house in Sydney. It takes an hour and the car trip is boring but I'm so excited. I wonder what school I'm going to.
"Mum do I need to wear a uniform at school?" I asked her hoping the answer is no.
"Yeah" she said.
"Eww" I said looking out the window.
We get to the house and it is a bit smaller than my old house in Texas.
I grab my small backpack and walk to the front door.
"Do you like it?", mum asks.
" It's ok not as good as Texas nothing can beat it", I say.
"You should go around to the neighbours and introduce yourself you may find someone that will go to your new school", mum says.
"Ok"
I walk around the neighbourhood and go house to house, door to door and introduce myself saying that we are the new neighbours that moved in down the street. I come to a house it is really nice and I walk up to the front door, I ring the door bell and two girls about my age answer. I introduce myself and they introduce themselves too. Their names are Olivia and Alyssa, Olivia is my height and has long blonde wavy  hair and is really pretty, where as Alyssa is also my height but has long brown  curly hair, also pretty. They invite me in so I accept the offer as I have nothing better to do.

We start talking and they ask me where I came from. I tell them about Texas and Blake and they ask to see a photo of him so of course I show them and they said that I was lucky to get him because he's really hot but I don't mind them saying that because it's true and he's mine. I try to change the subject and I ask them about what school they go to and they go to Penstate Grammar School. They ask me what school I go to and I tell them that I'm going to start there next term. They got so exited that we were going to the same school they started planning what we'd do at lunches.
*Ting ting*
My phone went off and I saw it was a message from my mom saying that she needed me to come home to help her unpack, so I said bye to the girls and made my way home only getting lost twice.
"Finally your home, I need to run to the shops and get some food and seen as how you can't drive yet I need you to stay here and continue to unpack."
"Can I invite some new friends over to help?"
"Sure I'll be back soon bye" she said as she rushed out the door.
I sent Liv and Alyssa a text asking if they wanted to come and help me unpack, they said yes and came over immediately. As we were unpacking they were telling me what to expect at school and how to handle things. They left around 5:30pm and mom came home at     6:00 pm.
