11- Hate To See Your Heart Break

Niall walked into a pub in London, past the empty stage and to the bar stools. "Can I get a beer?" He asked the man behind the counter who grabbed one and popped it open for him. "Cheers mate." He nodded his head before the sound of a microphone turning on brought his attention to the stage.

"Hello everyone!" Said a man with a small brown quiff with the sides shaved. His big brown eyes took in the crowd as he got hello's in reply. Smiling, he pulled the sleeves of his thin jumper up before adjusting the microphone stand to his height as he sat on a stool. Niall's eyes ran over the tattoos on his arm including arrows, a feather, and two quotes.

"Okay, so as most of you know, I'm Liam. For those new here tonight, I play here every Friday night. That's all I wanted to say." He paused, and chuckles sounded around the room. Niall cracked a smile, liking the guy's sense of humor. Liam's eyes connected with Niall's from across the bar and both their smiles grew to grins. Liam dragged his away first as they seemed to linger on Niall, and the blonde looked down with a blush. "He's cute," they both thought.

Liam looked down at his microphone with a small smile, before sneaking another peak at the cute blonde boy who had his eyes on the floor again. "So anyway, this song is one I wrote called 'Hate To See Your Heart Break', it's about watching someone you care for go through tough times, knowing what they're feeling, and wanting to help them." was all he said before he nodded to someone off stage, and the lights went down as the music started. His voice rang through gentle and quiet, touching the hearts of every person in the pub, Niall included.

There is not a single word, in the whole world

That could describe the hurt the dullest knife just sawing and back and forth

And ripping through the softest skin there ever was

How were you to know?

Well, how were you to know?

Liam's soft voice played out through the pub and he watched couples sway gently to the music before his eyes locked once again with the blue ones from before. The eyes watched Liam in awe, feeling the pure emotion and his heart ached for the boy.

And I, I hate to see your heart break

I hate to see your eyes get darker as they close

But I've been there before

He cupped the microphone on the stand with both hands gently, his emotions taking over as he poured his heart out in the song.

And I, I hate to see your heart break

I hate to see your eyes get darker as they close

But I've been there before

He stood off his stool, standing in front of the microphone.

Love, happens all the time, to people who aren't kind

And heroes who are blind,

Expecting perfect script in movie scenes

Once an awkward silence mystery

His eyes slipped closed as he sang, and he tapped his foot to the slow beat.

How were you to know?

Well how were you to know, oh, oh?

And I, I hate to see your heart break

I hate to see your eyes, get darker as they close
