Forbidden Love

Chapter 8

Neo waits patiently for Caleb and Pogue to convene with their little club. A knock startles her and when she opens the door, Chase looks at her with concern.

"You ok? I haven't seen you since yesterday", he says.

"Yeah..., I just..., I don't know Chase. I'm just not feeling up to do anything", says Neo. Chase makes his way in and Neo closes the door. He holds her face in his hands.

"You look paler. What have you been doing?", he asks.

"I.., uhm, got stuck in the rain the other day and ran through it", Neo had to think of something, but she did got stuck in the rain after Caleb and Pogue left.

"Well, you're not standing anymore", Chase picks her up and places her on the bed. He pulls her in his arms as he slides under the cover next to her.

Suddenly, Neo's head feel very light and she could feel the aura surging around her. Her vision starts to blur and when she looks up at Chase, his eyes are black. "Chase..., what..., what are you..., doing?", she asks, slurring as her vision is clouding her.

"It's ok, baby. Everything will be alright when you wake up", says Chase before he places her head on her pillow. Chase kisses her hair before getting up.

"Don't..., leave...", Neo tries to fight, but the aura is too strong, even for a half-vampire like her.

"I'll be right back in a minute", says Chase, "There's something I gotta do". With that, he disappears and Neo passes out.

Alexander Jr. wakes up to a nightmare - his daughter burning at the stake by The Order. He gets up and heads down to the kitchen and found Renfield making tea.

"You read my mind, Renfield", says Alexander Jr.

"I feel tension, young master", says Renfield.

Alexander Jr sighs. He feels something amiss and now, he can't stop thinking about it. "I don't know, Ren. Something is happening and I can feel it", he says.

"Is it that nightmare you've been having?", asks Renfield.

"I feel like sending her there is making it more likely for my nightmare to come true", says Alexander Jr. Then, the two are interrupted by Mina.

"What are you two doing up so late?", she asks.

"I was making tea. Young master couldn't sleep", says Renfield and Mina could see the stress in her son's eyes.

"Sweetheart, what is it?", she asks.

"It's Neo. Something is amiss mother, but I don't know what", says Alexander Jr.

"Last I saw her, she's doing fine there. Have you tried calling her today?", she asks again.

"She didn't pick up her phone", says Alexander Jr.

"Alright, I'm sure it's nothing. Go get some sleep and we'll discuss this with your father first thing in the morning", says Mina. Alexander Jr nods and heads back upstairs while Mina helps Renfield to clear the kitchen.

Neo wakes up, feeling really heavy and a headache is about to set in. She tries finding her phone, but to no avail. Suddenly, someone pounds on her dorm room. Neo slips on her shawl and opens the door to a concerned Caleb.

"Kate's in the hospital and Pogue had an accident last night", he says. Neo quickly throws on her jean before running off with Caleb to the hospital.

When they reach there, Neo found out Kate looks like she's been bitten by thousands of bugs. Pogue has wires and bandages all over him. 'Oh Chase, what have you done?', she thought.

"I say we all go after Chase..., right now", says Reed.

"This may not be that easy", says Caleb.

"Neo's here. We can use her", says Tyler. Neo raises her eyebrow and draws out her fangs. Tyler steps back and Caleb steps in.

"Guys, come on. We don't have time for this", says Caleb, "You two stay with Pogue and call me if there's any change".

Caleb and Neo head back to the waiting area to meet up with Sarah. Neo let them talk for a while. Caleb sits down and think of a solution.

Sarah sits next to him with a worried expression. "Caleb, look me in the eye and tell me if it's true", she says, "Spiders..., I read about them. It's one of the charges against John Putnam. There was some kind of spell or something".

"I need to show you something..., then I'll explain everything", says Caleb. He drops Neo back at school before heading out with Sarah. Neo returns to her dorm and is surprised to see Chase on her bed.

"God, you scared me", she says.

"What are you doing out of bed?", he asks.

"Kate had anaphylactic shock and Pogue was in an accident. Where were you?", she asks.

"I had something to do", says Chase and Neo could see through his eyes - he's lying. Neo backs up and Chase could sense something amiss. "You think I have something to do with it?", he says.

Neo feels the wall on her back and Chase immediately places his hands to block her from running. "Chase, please, don't hurt me", says Neo.

"Neo, I love you and I'm not gonna hurt you..., ever. I just want to hurt them - the Sons of Ipswich", says Chase, "Now, on the bed like a good little girl and go to sleep". Neo complies and heads towards the bed. Chase lies down next to her and kisses her.

"I'll explain. Not now, but soon", says Chase.

"I love you", she says, kissing him.
