Forbidden Love

Chapter 7

The small teddy bear hangs on her bag, which makes Chase smiles. They spend time, studying together on the weekdays and at the town or the lake on the weekend, but when Chase comes to her after his times with 'The Sons of Ipswich', she senses the aura on him. At first, she thought maybe the aura rubs off on Chase, but somehow it's getting stronger.

        One night, Neo turns her attention to the book - Chronicles of Paganism. Suddenly, she feels the aura getting stronger next door. Neo concentrates on Kate and she is sleeping peacefully, but when she turns her attention to Sarah, Neo sees her nightmare involving spiders. When Sarah wakes up, Neo's telepathic attention snaps out and she goes back to the book. The fifth family that was convicted of witchcraft, Putnam had controlled over spiders. She keeps on reading and hatches a plan.

        The next day, she meets up with Chase after his swimming class and he has a little bruise nearby his lips. "Oh my god! Are you ok?", she asks, inspecting his bruise. Chase grabs her hands and kisses it.

        "Nothing I can't handle", he says, "I'm hungry. You?". Neo nods and they ride Silver to town. They have lunch at Nicky's and sit by the lake. Neo keeps thinking about Sarah's nightmare, her grandmother's advice about the aura and now, she feels guilty of planning to sneak to the office to see Chase's records. Suddenly, Chase pokes her and startles her. "Earth to Neo, where have you been?", he asks as he laughs.

        Neo hits him on his arm before snuggling in his embrace. "I'm just..., tired. That's all", says Neo.

        Chase's hand find their way to her shoulders and he begins to massage her. "Relax... Just close your eyes and relax", he says before his lips find her pulse point.

        "Your version of relax, not mine", says Neo.

        "Still, it worked before, right?", he whispers in her ear, which makes her shivers a little. Chase tangles his fingers in her hair before tugging it a little, bringing her head back before smothering her with his lips. Then, his hands left her hair before wrapping around her waist while Neo takes her turn to tangle her fingers in his hair. They make out for a while and as Chase is about to make the next move, the sun is blocked by the dark clouds and thunders begin to roar in the sky.

        "I hate mother nature", Chase mumbles. He looks at Neo before asking, "Your room?".

        "It's weekdays silly. Someone will see", says Neo.

        "I'll climb in through the window", says Chase.

        "Kate and Sarah saw you coming out the other day. Luckily they didn't report it", says Neo and Chase groans. "Just a couple more days, then we'll come back here for another camping trip, ok?", she suggests. Chase eventually agrees. They ride back to the campus fast as rain starts to pour.

        That night, when Neo senses everyone is asleep, she sneaks out through the window. She blends with the shadow to bypass the night guards and arrives at the admission office. She uses her hairpin to unlock the drawer and begins to search for Chase's file. Suddenly, a hand lands on her shoulder and Neo acts on instinct, she flips the hand and the person lands right in front of her.

        "Caleb?", says Neo, "What are you doing here?".

        "We could've asked you the same thing", says Caleb.

        "Who's we?", asks Neo.

        "Pogue and I", answers Caleb. Neo turns around to see Pogue peeking from the door. Neo motions him to come in as she pulls Caleb out. "Now, do you mind telling me why are you here holding your boyfriend's file?", asks Caleb.
