~Diana~

Liam's question came out of nowhere and threw me off guard. He was very observant and only wanted to know why I was so scared. He was just trying to help and, me being me, I got all scared and almost spilled everything. Now he definitely knows that there's something up with me. I hope he doesn't think I'm weird or insane. But why was he so interested in me, a nobody. It boggled my mind. A loud chime interrupted my train of thought.

It was Liam asking if we could hang out. I thought it over for a while. It still irked me that he was so interested in my past. Maybe he was just trying to be nice. I mean that's how it was with Niall. Suddenly a thought popped into my head. Why don't I call Niall and ask what he thought about it? I dialed his number and after a few rings he answered.

"He D, wassup?" There was a loud clang in the background, and Niall cursed.

   "Should I call another time?"

   "No now's alright."

"Ok, well you remember how Liam came up to me the other day?" He hummed in agreement. "Well he sort of asked to hang out and then he asked about my past, which is insane like how did he figure that out? And I'm not sure if I want to tell him yet. What do I do?"

"He figured it out? All of it?"

"Not all of it, but he knows that something happened." I nervously started to bite my nail but drummed my fingers on the edge of my bed. I was trying to stop biting my nails when I was worried or anxious.

"Did you hear yourself Diana? You said yet. Sodo you want to tell him?"

"Well maybe, not really, I don't know. He's nice, but I can't help but feel like he'll leave or stop talking to me once he finds out. Not everyone is like you."

He let out a long sigh. "D, after what you've been through it's alright if you're a little hesitant about telling people all about your dad, but the further your relationship goes you know you'll have to tell him sooner or later."

"Relationship? Uh, no. We've only hung out once, Niall."

"Relationship, friendship whatever. He's not a bad guy. All I'm saying is that he would appreciate it if you tell him about it, but at the same time you don't have to tell him about it now. Wait a while, build up your trust and friendship."

He was right. I'm freaking out over nothing. I don't have to tell him all about my dad now. I can wait and get to know Liam and see whether or not I can trust him with that part of me.

"Thanks Niall, I have no idea what I would do without you."

"That's what I'm here for. Now I have to go, Bella's about to burn the house down, BELLA USE THE OVEN MITTS!!!!!"

There was a loud scream and then silence.

   "Everything alright Niall?"

"Ummmm, do you want to go to Sugar Shack with me and Bella? You can invite Liam."

"Sure," I replied. It was a great idea. Then Niall could meet Liam and get to know him and help me with my dilemma.

   "Peachy! See ya there D."

With a new found sense of relief and confidence I called up Liam. I'll just push that part of me away and get to know Liam and be friends without that episode of my life in the way. Everything will be fine. The past is in the past and I must focus on the now and creating a friendship with Liam that will last forever.

~Liam~

I walked into Sugar Shack and instantly spotted her. Her hair was in two braids and she had a black beanie on top of her head. She wore a blue long sleeve that said, 'If you don't read then stay away' and black pants.

I was overjoyed when she said we could hang out. I was worried that maybe I scared her off and then she would never want to talk to me again after realizing what an idiot I was. But she was going to give me another chance.

I only care about her which is the sole reason why I asked. I never want to see her hurt or in pain. I never want to see fear flood  into her big, beautiful brown eyes again.  I know that if I see her smile that gorgeous smile of hers I'd know she'd be ok.

"Liam!" She called waving her hand in the air. I couldn't help but smile and walk over. I noticed Niall sitting in the booth.

   "Hey Diana, Niall."

"You two know each other?" She asked as she looked between us with a confused look.

"Yeah we're both on the soccer team," Niall said nonchalantly scrolling on his phone.

Diana glared at him and he looked up at her. They had some sort of telepathic conversation before she rolled her eyes. Just then a little girl who looked exactly like Niall, probably his little sister he's always babbling about, came skipping up to us. She ignored me and grabbed Diana's hand and tugged on it.

"Can we go get some cake now?" She asked. Her big blue eyes stared up into Diana's.

"Of course. Do you want anything Liam?" She asked focusing her brown eyes on me. My breath caught in my throat as she looked at me. I couldn't focus on anything else. I didn't notice the little girl jumping up and down impatiently, or Niall watching me like a hawk. Her face was the only thing I wanted to look at. But now was not the time.

"I - I," I cleared my throat out of nervousness. "Just hot cocoa is fine." I said. She smiled brightly at me ans I couldn't help but returning it. I watched her walk with Niall's sister and I must say, it was absolutely adorable.

"Sit down mate," Niall said after the two left. "We need to talk. Diana told me you figured out what happened to her."

"I don't know what happened to her." He was gonna grill me. Great.

"I know you don't know. She told me. She tells me almost everything. I know you're a good guy and everything, but it'll take a while before she tells you so don't push her into spilling everything to you just because you're curious. She's been through hell and she doesn't want you to leave her if she does decide to tell you. It'll leave her devastated if another person she trusts hurts her and leaves her. Just give her some time, ok?"

I nodded. He didn't need to get defensive about everything. I get it, he's just looking out for her. But I'm not like those other guys. I would never leave her. If she does tell me about what happened I would think of it as a sign that she does trust me enough to tell me her feelings and to trust me with her heart, if she decides to be gracious enough to give it to me.

"I care about her and I want to help her."

"I get it, mate. Just take things easy. Don't rush into anything." He sent me a cheeky smirk and I instantly started to protest.

   "It's not like that."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's so obvious you like her, and I don't mind. She could use a guy like you. Just go slow. She'll come around soon."

"Niall," I said sending him a look. He just laughed and then Diana and his sister came back. Niall introduced me to her, turns out her name is Bella. The whole time I couldn't stop my eyes from sneaking looks at Diana. I could just stare at her all day.
