PROLOGUE!
Tugging on my mother's arm, i desperatly begged and cried. They were supposed to go on vacation, without me! It was unacceptable. "Mommy don't go! I don't want to not see you for a week"
Crouching down, my mom sighed, "Hayzel its just a vacation. We will be back before you know it." she tapped my nose causing me to giggle and took my dad's hand again. "Sara, watch her. Your 13, now a teen and we trust you alone in the house. Hayzel may still be 8 but she will behave if you feed her. "
Smiling like an angel, while she said "I'll do just that, 10 times a day. She is a hungry little girl." Sara tickled my tummy and i giggled.
"Stop it! we need to focus, tickle fight after. Daddy please don't go!!!" With a sigh he bent to pick his suit case. Tears ran down my cheeks without an end. Jumping at his legs i hugged thm tight. "Don't Go!!!!!"
"Sara say something. Do you really want them to go. You're only 13, you aren't even allowed to take care of the two of us alone. Sara, answer me please!"
It felt like hours until Sara crouched down to level my face with hers, like my mother always does. She looked me straight in the eyes with her mesmerizing brown ones. She wiped my face with her sleeves and answered me in a calm soothing tone."I know you are sad but if they say it is only a week, I believe them. You are a good girl. You will not cause any trouble, Right? You're smart enough to know the right answer"
Nodding i remembered i had a goodbye presant.
I turned around and ran for my bedroom which i shared with Sara my sister. It was just up the stairs from the living room where the conversation started. I positioned myself flat on my belly, parallel to my bed and reached underneath. When I felt the soft texture of my gift, that has been dreading to have to show on this day, I pulled out my hand.
I slowly turned around to look in the mirror to make sure I looked good enough. I wanted my look to last my parents a week of memories. I was wearing a poofy pink dress that went up to my knobby knees with short sleeves. The pink was soo bright it would destroy any sign of evil, so it protected me, or that is what my sister said when we bought it. It made my natural tan stand out, and again that is what my sister would say. I had the same type of pink colour in my ribbons that held my hair in two low pig tails. It really stood out on my really curly black hair. My hair was really frizzy but I knew my mom and dad loved it like this.
In my hand I held three roses, which were now flat because I kept it in a notebook for four whole years. One was purple, one was red and one was blue. I had four in total, one for every member in my family, Purple for my mom, Blue for my dad, red for my sister, Sara and Pink for me. My rose was the healthiest looking and my mom would always tell me it was because of my hidden magical powers. That would be great but I was old enough to know that was not true.
I looked myself in the eyes. They were a deep blue. But my eyes weren’t that colour. My eyes were always a hazel ish green colour. They were never the same colour on both eyes, but in the mirror they were both blue. Why?
I stepped closer until my face was inches away from my reflection. I was hallucinating or I have gone crazy I thought. Then I thought I saw my reflections’ eyes, quickly scan me from what looked like head to toe. I started to back away when suddenly, the colour of my eyes changed in my reflection. My right eye turned green and my left eye turned hazel. My original colours.
I quickly ran back down to the living room to find, nobody there.
Except my sister.
“Where did mom and dad go?” I asked as I rocked back and forth on my heels. I could not wait to see their reaction to my gift.
“Oh”, Sara started. "they left-"
"DWhat " instantly i went from excited to depressed. Tears filled my eyes.
My thoughts were interrupted by a voice that said, “When will Hazel come down, Oh there you are. Sweety come and say by to your parents.” I turned on my heels faster than ever, seeing only blur as I turned to see my mother standing in the kitchen next to living room. I ran towards her and tackled her with a great bear hug.
“Whoa, calm down there.” My father said coming up behind my mom after I tackled him too.
“I thought you left with… without saying bye to me” I said holding back the urge to cry. “Sara said that you left without saying bye to me.”
“Noooo, I did not. You just jump to conclusions too easily. I din't lie to you, so don’t go there.” Sara stated behind me.
I realized she was right. I always do that I thought. So I started to blush. Luckily my mom came to my rescue saying. "She just loves us too much. Sara don't tease your sister"
"i wasn't teasing. " Sara mummbled.
"I have something for you guys " I say handing everyone a flower. "These flowers will keep us connected no matter where we are!" I wasn't sure if i was just hallucinating again, which is something i do often but the air that surrounded the flowers that i held out in front of my mother, father and Sara begin to glow but as soon as i noticed it , it was gone. I handed everyone a single flower and held my parents hands as they walked towards the door.
