"So you’re feeling better?" I asked, rotating back and forth on a chair next to Dmitri's bed. After getting him up we decided to return to the hotel room we stayed in. We were due to move soon so those guys wouldn't find us again.

We all sat in Dmitri's room, me, beside him on the chair, Hera sitting at the foot of his bed and Angelo leaning against the wall waiting on Dmitri. Angelo brought Dmitri whatever he asked for, but only because I asked him to be nice.

Nodding Dmitri answers, "I am. Thanks. Are you okay? We were on that roof for a while and-"

"I am fine Dmitri..." I quickly interjected reaching out and grabbing a tissue. "It wasn't even cold- ah... ah...ahchoo! " sneezing into the tissue I looked back up at him innocently smiling. Dmitri shook his head and scooted to the other side of his bed.

"Come lay down." he demanded.

"No! I really am fine!" I assured. Hera stepped towards me placing a hand on my forehead and pulling back quickly.

"You're sick. I think you have a fever." Hera concluded. "And being with your other self... especially with contact you can heal faster. So go lay down." Looking over at Angelo I hesitatedly stood from my seat. "It's only to heal. Angelo wants you to heal and feel better, right? So just go. Angelo can you go get her new pajamas?" With a sigh Angelo was out of the room, followed by Hera after she said, "Heal you two."

When the door closed I walked over to the bed and lay next to Dmitri- as far from him as possible- staring up at the ceiling. I could feel Dmitri shift and quickly glanced to see him turned away from me but held his hand out. His hand hovered above my face. "Take my hand we need some physical contact to heal faster." Nodding I reached up and awkwardly took his hand in mine, feeling a slight jolt. I could hear him sigh next to me and turn in my direction. Glancing his way I accidently came into view of his eyes. I told myself I had to avoid them.

Staring into his emralds I could feel myself being drawn in. I couldn't release his gaze. The shield was up, the shield that hid all the pain of his life. I slowly turned to my other side facing him. Reaching across I took a hold of his other hand as well feeling a flood of relief, and smiled.

"How could your touch feel this grea-" realizing I was speaking out loud I closed my mouth, heat hitting my cheeks. I was unable to look away trapped within his eyes. Why did this always happen: forgetting everything but the moment. Raising as much energy as i could i closed my eyes.

Sighing once more Dmitri started an explanation. "Long time ago... Humans, Shadows and Mirrors were all one person. One being all in one. Three in one. You know how Humans believed they had an angel and a devil on their shoulder. It's like that...one voice tells you to make the right decision, the angel, and the other tells you to make the wrong decision, the devil. Mirrors were like the angel and Shadows were like the devils. The thing was that the devil's, the Shadow's, bad choice was always easier to see and usually chosen."

Opening my eyes I looked into Dmitri's deep ocean green ones as he recited the story like it was the thousandth time. "The Mirror's began to shrink and Humans stopped listening to them. Everyone started making all the bad decisions. The world fell into a dark era. Wars constantly were waged, families fell apart and everyone was left on their own. Brothers and sisters sacrificed their kids for food. Humans decisions, started to lose power too when the Shadow's kept growing.  Humans were lost within the Shadows; Mirror's were lost within the Shadows. Humans couldn't make decisions anymore but were still aware as were the Mirrors."

Finally he turned his attention to me. "One human man, by the name of Christopher Rock, brave man, before disappearing he summoned energy and was able to expel the shadow with in him. But since he didn't have any "devil" to balance out the angel-Mirrors- he was unable to make decisions on his own. Therefore he expelled his Mirror as well. The downside is that when a person is in three separate pieces they are weaker than they could have been. Christopher’s separation spread, everyone begun to do it. So now there are Mirrors, Shadow's and Humans."

Nodding like I had agreed he continued, never once releasing my gaze. "Humans must stay oblivious only because they make the decisions, and might choose to accept the Shadow which would only cause trouble. Humans can do enough destruction on their own. Mirrors protect the Humans from the Shadows. If the Shadow finds its Human self it would join with them and the human would eventually lose control. Thus strengthening the Shadows incapable of massive destruction on their own. At a certain age a Shadow can no longer join a Human completing the Mirrors successful job in protection." Squeezing my hand Dmitri smiled.

Trying to figure this out I asked, "So since you’re also a part of me when we are together we are more powerful... I heal faster?"

"You got it."

"Can I ask one more thing Dmitri? When you meet your other self, is it normal to want to always be with them?"

"No... Why?" He wondered pulling his eyebrows together.

"No reason!” I quickly saved shifting so my curly black hair covered my face slighting hoping to hide the blush. Then why on earth do I...
