COMMON HIGHLANDS
---------------------------------------I remember the sons..
of bitches...
The cuts... from the thorns.
I'd stare into the bathroom mirror with a blank expression every night to recall my worth.
"I use to know you."
I'd say.I had given the best of me to the wrong people most of my life.
Not only with men.
I've also had toxic friendships which led me to be lonely.
This use to be me.
Things have changed now. I have better in my life.
It is now a quarter after 8pm, and British is calling me. My mind travels back to when we were freshly adults. We still could go for teens for we looked so young when spoke for the first time.
"Is that British?" Isabella asks loudly as soon as she hears my phone ring.
"It is." I roll my eyes in annoyance.
"You're not going to answer the phone?" She blinks her eyes twice. That means that she's waiting for me to answer the phone.
Isabella and the girls have always been so fond of hearing about British when we were close.
As soon as I answered, a smiled crawled onto my face.
"Hello."
"How are you doing Ms.Lacey?"
"I'm great!" I say in a high pitched voice.
"That wasn't necessary." Isabella scoffed at me playfully and I stood up to walk away. That didn't do any justice because she just followed me.
At the end of our small talk, he asked to see me, and I was hesitant. Isabella wasn't going for it. Within seconds, I agreed to see British in the next hour, and from that moment in...
A new war was about to begin.
