COMMON HIGHLANDS
---------------------------------
It's too late!
I can't, and I won't! I will not give in to British's irresistible love.
I can break a promise with flesh, but not with my soul.
I promised.
But when his soul sees mine, and they play for keeps, it becomes hard to respect such an oath. To humiliate my character. To go back on my word.
To let my heart win over my mind.
It's now 6 a.m., and I'm driving back to Common Highlands.
Emotionally drained, and all the feelings that I'm feeling are burning drastically. That flame never died. How could I go on without him this time?
I'm loosing it.
It was just one night. One night that should've happened years ago, or one night that should've never existed.
I wept until my eyelids swelled, then British called to make sure that I made it back to my side of town. When he heard the dread in my voice, he asked me repeatedly to give him the location of my destination.
I refused of course, and he became angry and hung up the phone.
Then he called back a few seconds later.
"I'm coming to pick you up."
"No... British. We can't see one another again." My chest felt like it was going to bust wide open once the words left my mouth. Why was I doing the same thing he would do?
"What time do you want me to head your way?" He asked calmly. It was as if what I said went into one ear and out the other.
"Did you hear me?"
"Yes I did."
"Why British?"
"You know why... Lacey."
"Had you not seen yesterday..."
"But I did!" He interrupted.
"Did you think that I just forgot about you?"
"You did." I cried.
"That's what you think. If that was the case, I wouldn't be so eager to see you and have you in my presence."
"But for how long British? We were also adults the last time we were so-called close."
"We were close, so don't add the so-called part within that statement. To make matters more clear, our connection never died, we just haven't seen one another, so we're still close. My soul knows who it loves."
I can't believe what's coming out of his mouth. I don't know if I should buy it, or just accept it. It's a lose-lose situation!
"And to answer your question, I need you with me forever."
