Chapter 3-The Detention

I walked into the classroom and went to sit down but before I could he bluntly said “shut the door”. I did as he said then sat down. After about a minute of silence he said “so why you were on your phone while in class” “I was going to tell a person to leave me alone” “may I ask why” he asked. “Fine, there is this person who keeps on annoying me and won’t leave me alone” He looked a bit concerned and angry all at once. “If I asked you who it is would you tell me” “I would if I felt there was nothing I could do” “oh ok” Then it was silent for 5 minute. “Mr Downey how long do I have to stay here” “you have to stay here for another 45 minutes” “fine ok” “well since you are going to be here for a while is it ok If I ask you some questions so I can get to know you better” he asked with a big smile. “umm ok sure go ahead” “ok when is your birthday” “21st of April” “cool, what is your favourite colour” “I don’t have a favourite colour but I like dark colours like black, red, purple and blue, but I also like white and green” “cool” “Mr Downey” he cut me off “please only call me that when we are in lesson, outside of lessons call me Robert” “ok Robert can I ask you some questions” “ye shoot” “ok when is your birthday” “4th of April” “what is your favourite colour” “green” “can I have my phone back please” “yes you can” “yes’s thank you” just as he gave it back I had a text and it was from Brian. It said “when does your detention end cause me wondering if you wanted to hang out” “Mr Downey can I answer my text” “it depends who it is from” “it’s from Brian the person who walked me here” “sure” he said sounding a little upset. I text Brian “in about an hour but I can hang out with you after, I will text you when it is over, g2g bye” he replied almost straight away. “Oh ok see you later, bye”. “What did he want” Mr Downey asked me. “Oh he wanted to know if I wanted to hang out with him after my detention was over” “oh ok, I hope you have a nice time” he looked upset for some reason. why did he look upset?

My detention finally ended. As I walked out the door I said “bye Mr Downey” “bye Marianne, see you tomorrow”. As I walked out of the school building me text Brian that my detention was over and he replied strait away. He asked me if I wanted to get a coffee with him. I said yes and that I would meet him in 30 minutes. After I sent the text I got into my car and drove to the cafe. When I got there Brian was waiting for me outside. I walked up to him “hey Brian” “hi Marianne how was detention” “boring” he laughed. We walked in to the cafe, got our drinks and sat down. “So Marianne, I haven’t seen you in over a year, what have you been doing” “I have been focused on my music course with some friends, what about you” “I have been touring with my band doing song covers most of the time” “cool, it sounds fun”. We were there for a while just talking when I realised it was starting to get late so decided to go home. I said bye to Brian and gave him a hug and went home.
