I woke up, I was afraid in the unfamiliar surroundings. When I sat up and saw Charles, I remembered the previous day. He really didn't leave, I thought. 'Of course I didn't,' he thought in my head. He opened his eyes and grinned. I just shook my head and laughed. For the first time in a long time, I felt well rested. "Hello." He said. "Hi." I replied. I sat up, cross legged. "So how did you sleep?" He asked. "Very well." I replied. "Good." He said. I threw my long braid over my shoulder and stretched. Charles sat up, he had slept above the covers on the corner of the bed. I checked the time. It was nine o'clock. Nine! I slept for a long time. Ten hours, almost. I stood, stretched some more and went to clean. I began scrubbing the tiles in the bathroom. Charles came and found me. "Love, what are you doing?!" He exclaimed. "Cleaning." I replied, rinsing the brush and getting back to work. "Why?" He asked. "I'm supposed to." I responded, not looking up from my work. "No, you're not." He responded. I saw out of the corner of my eye him come around me. I looked up to see his eyes. "Dear, no you're not. Come with me, there's breakfast, and I want you to meet some people." He said. I rose to my feet. "Okay..." I timidly responded. He led me into a large room with a long table full of people. I sat between him and Erik. There was an empty plate in front of me and beyond that there was a buffet of food. I folded my hands in my lap. Erik turned to me. "Eat." He said, looking at my empty plate. I placed a pancake on my plate and timidly ate as fast as I could. I then drank a glass of water sitting to the left of the plate. I was full. Charles pointed at a boy with red and blue glasses on. "That's Scott." I was acquainted with Scott. I took an interest to a boy with ginger, curly hair. "Who's that?" I asked, pointing at the boy. "That's Sean." He said. I was already very confused by all of the noise. Suddenly it went quiet. Charles spoke. "Last night's recruitment was a success. We have a new student, and if she wants to be, team member. Everyone welcome Cambri today, okay? Be nice to her, her past wasn't all that good. Thank you." Everyone started clapping. Erik whispered in my ear. "Recruitment is a big deal around here. Welcome to the team." I smiled. I was actually wanted. I turned to Charles. "What is this team?" I asked. "The X Men. Basically a vigilante group of people who fight for the humans." He responded, not missing a beat. "I would love to join." I said. "You will need to train." He warned. "Im okay with that." I said, smiling slightly. I would be doing something of use.
