11:20am Friday

It had already been around 2 hours in the car & surprisingly, it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be.
I was currently laughing at Drew. He was singing along to JB at the top of his lungs, knowing every word. Help.

"BABY BABY BABY OHHHHH LIKE BABY BABY NOOOO!!" He was throwing his head back with every long note & I couldn't get the cheesy smile off my face.
Then we come to a stop light & Drew looks over at me making eye contact. He holds it while singing the lyrics "thought you'd always be mine miiiine." I feel my heart pick up & he is now only inches from my face. For a minute I think we are going to kiss; I start leaning in too but catch myself. I see the light turn green & pull away. "Drewww, the lights grreeeeen gooo," he rolls his eyes with a smirk & speeds away from the intersection. I look out my window, trying to grasp what just happened. I can't let this happen. No.
Last time I let my guard down, everything went down hill. I can't let him do that to me again. It shattered me... I need to be stronger than that.

I feel my phone vibrate & I see a text from Jodi:

Jodi: hey! gonna stop to get something to eat, just follow us (:
Nikki: Okay! once we get there follow me into the bathroom need to rant!!¡¡

We pull up to some old diner off the highway. It was actually really cool; it had a bunch of old black & white pictures on the walls & 50/60's music playing on an old record player. As soon as I got in the diner I walked into the bathroom to already find Jodi in there. I lock the door & run over to her.
"SPILL IT!!" She squealed.
"Well we were sitting there at a stop light & we were listening to JB (don't say anything just shhh) & well he was singing the lines 'thought you'd always be mine' & he was looking at me & was leaning in & I wanted to kiss him back but I pulled away just in time for the green light. & OMG JODI HE ALMOST KISSED ME!!!"
Jodi's eyes widened & she covered her mouth jumping around. She then gripped both my arms, "Look okay, I don't know if he's changed or not so don't fall for him all over again. You need to be strong & be an independent woman!"
My eyes saddened, "Jodi... I never stopped loving him, & him doing that made getting over him harder. But your right, I need to be strong."
Jodi smiled & hugged me tight, "That's my girl! Now let's go get some food! Bc I'm dying here," She giggled & I chuckled with her. We headed out of the bathroom & sat down with the boys.
We ordered food, ate & left just like that. Back on the road for another few hours... yay.

2:30pm Friday

I was napping, when I feel a hand shaking my knee slightly. I open my eyes & look over at Drew.
"Hey sleepy head, we are less than 15 minutes from LA." He smiles & points at the road sign.
I sit up a bit & stretch, "We are going to check into the hotel, set that all up & then whatever we wanna do, so we will see what's going on in LA." Drew runs a hand through his hair & glances at me. I nod, "Alrighty then," the car goes silent for a minute. "I'm hungry," Drews chuckles, "What else is new." I squint my eyes at him. He squints back, & I giggle, looking away.
Except I still sense his gaze on me, & I feel a lump growing in my throat.
