It's your fault - Levi X Reader

Chapter 7

The four of you were walking home after one more successful job. When you arrived home, a tall man with white hair, mustache and good clothes with suspicious look stood by the door as if waiting for you. 

"What's the deal old man? Do you want something?" Isabelle questioned.

"I have a job request" he simply answered.

"Didn't you get the wrong house? This is not a handyman shop" Farlan stated.

"I have a reward" the strange man said.

"Go home." Levi said. It wasn't a suggestion. It was an order.

The four of you started to walk past the man, but he was persistent.

"I've already paid the deposit though" he stated.

"You're kidding, right?" you asked.

"We don't even know you." Farlan added.

"That's true. But you should already know about him" the old man said. Then he looked at a carriage that was on the street. You then saw your friend Jan, that had a problem in his leg due to lack of sunlight, being carried into the carriage.

"His leg it's already at his limit." the man said. "He needs to get treatment at a hospital on the surface... Isn't that right, Levi?

"What's the meaning of this?" you asked.

"I already told you. It's a deposit for the job" the man answered "You'll listen to the details now, right?"

"Fine, then" Levi finally agreed.

"Follow me" the man walked through the Underground city and led you to the stair case that gave access to the surface. The only time you had been on those stairs was on the day you had met Levi.

Once you reached the top, your eyes were forced to close due to the strong sunlight that focused in face. Once your eyes adapted to the light, you saw another carriage, bigger than the one that took Jan.

"Are these the guys?" A voice from inside the carriage asked the man that came talk to you. You could distinguish a figure, but you weren't able to see is face,

"Yes, I've heard they're excellent." The man answered.

"Who the hell are you?" Levi asked.

"It's understandable that you're wary of me" the voice spoke "but you'll learn it's okay to trust me"

"How could we?" Farlan asked.

"The fact that I'm here says everything." the man inside the carriage answered again. "Being here is a great risk to me. Have you received the deposit already?"

"I don't know how things work on the surface, but down here is called taking a hostage." Levi said.

"That's just a contingency plan we laid in place. When you have successfully completed the job, you won't only be getting a huge sum of money, but also citizenship on the surface." The man said.

You and your friends traded insecure looks.
