Chapter 8

'Citizenship!? On the surface!?' you thought. That's everything the four of you have been dreaming for the last years. What kind of job is this?

"Give us more information" Levi said.

"I assume you know the Survey Corps, right?" the man asked.

The four of you nodded in response.

The Survey Corps were a part of the military that went outside the walls to find out more about titans. Although they have made some progress, they still haven't found the main answers to the more important questions about titans. So now they were seen as a group of crazy people that went outside the walls on "suicidal" missions.

"In three days they are going to chase you here in the Underground City" the man continued. "Your job is quite simple. You have to steal a very important document from squad leader Erwin, destroy it and then kill the him." He made a pause and then continued "If you don't want to take the job you can always run away from them but don't forget that your friend needs your help. You have three days to decide." And with that the man that first talked to you entered the carriage and they leave, leaving you with a decision to make.

"Levi" you said.

"We talk when we're home" he cut you of.

Time Skip

You were now at home, sitting on the couch, discussing on what to do.

"We can't accept it." You said.

"(Y/n), we have the chance to live on the surface! It's our dream!" Farlan said.

"Yeah, but at what cost? What if we go outside the walls and some fucking titan kills us all?" you said.

"That won't happen. The job will be done before we even need to go on an expedition." Farlan assured you.

"(Y/n), please trust us" Isabelle said.

"It's not about trust, I trust you guys more than anyone. You guys just don't know how terrible a titan can be. When I used to live on the surface, every time the Survey Corps came back from an expedition, they were much less than the original numbers that went outside. The amount of dead bodies was enormous." you were so terrified that you hands started to shake.

"This is our chance, (y/n)." Levi said and grabbed your hands to calm you down. "Nothing is going to happen"

"Come on, (y/n)" Isabelle said.

You had this feeling that something bad was going to happen. But like they said, this was your dream, and there was also the problem with Jan. You didn't know what those men could do with him if you didn't take the job.

"Fine, we'll do it" you finally gave in.

"YEEAAHH!" Isabelle shouted. "We are leaving this place, finally." She had a huge grin on her face and that was contagious. You couldn't help but smile at her reaction, Farlan smiled too and you could see Levi mouth turned into what seemed a smile.
