Chapter One.
Y/N's POV.

"Putting my defences up, cause I don't wanna fall in love..."

I groaned as Heart Attack blared from my phone, signalling that it was time to wake up. I opened my eyes to the sun shining through my window. It'll take a whilst getting used to that, my old room had a dark purple curtain blocking as much sun out as possible. This one, doesn't even have a blind, yet.

My new room was bare. I didn't have a head board to my bed, heck, my bed is on the floor. I only a sheet underneath me. The room had this terrible bright floral wallpaper, and this weird musky smell. There wasn't any furniture, and all my clothes were in boxes. Why today? Why couldn't I start school tomorrow, when I could have another day to organise everything? I roll my eyes and got out of bed and stretched my back. I missed my canopy bed I had in the old house. But I don't miss anything else about my past, or what was two weeks ago. It's too long of a story to think of at 5.45 AM.

I dig out my brush, eyeliner, and some clothes to get ready for school. Once that's taken care of, I walk downstairs into the kitchen and grab myself a banana for breakfast.

"Honey, I made you an omelet for breakfast. It's on the counter over there." My mum states from the table reading the paper.

Walking over to where she said it was, suddenly, I didn't even want to eat my banana. But I knew I needed to. I needed to eat.

"That's okay, Mum. I'll just eat my banana. Where did you get the eggs? I didn't know you went grocery shopping?"

"The neighbour saw that we just moved in and knew we would probably need some essentials, so she brought us some milk, eggs, and shredded cheese. Wasn't that nice of her?"

"It's a little unusual, don't you think?" I asked a tad bit worried.

"Maybe. But she was just trying to be nice. Well, at least eat your banana, and I'll be happy."

Mum knows about my eating problems. I'll eat, just not a lot. Food just fills me up faster than it does for most people. I eat my banana and brush my teeth afterwards. Walking out the bathroom, I grab my backpack with empty binders, find the keys, and leave so we can get there before school starts.

"You coming Mum?"
.................................
After Mum came in the principal's office with me, and I got my schedule, I went to my new locker with the combination in my hand. I feel like I'm being watched, but the again, I'm the new girl 1/4 way into the school year. Of course I'm being watched. I set in the empty binders that I won't need until the afternoon, and shut the locker. Turning around, I see quite a few people around, but only three staring.

"Uh. Hi?" I awkwardly voice from my mouth.
Two guys and one girl are the ones looking at me. The girl's back is faced to the group of other girls as she looks me up and down. The one guy with brown hair, hazel-ish eyes, and strong dimples, eye's were locked on me, with a smile plastered on his face. Then there was this other guy staring at me. His back was faced toward his friends as he checked me out. His eyes were crystal blue, and his hair was sandy blonde. There was something about him. But I could tell that he was one of 'those guys.' Besides, he probably has a girlfriend.

The girl came rushing over to my side and shooed the boys off, but I swear they were still looking.

"Hi!" She said perkily. "I'm Emma. You are?"

"Uh.. Y/N?" I said confused. Why would she come up to me like that? Most people just leave me be and ignore me, but she actually came up to me.

"Nice to meet you, Y/N. You're new, right?" Before I answered she kept on going. "Welcome to North Valley. Let me just tell you a little something about this school. Every school got's it's cliques, right? Well here are the one's here. We've got the..."

I tuned her out a bit until she mentioned the clique she was in.

"There's the Preps. That's where I am. Not to be rude, but I can tell you're not a Prep. But that's okay. If you're okay with it, I still would like to be you're friend. It'll be hard to find many here."

I don't have many friends, anyway. And to think that someone is asking permission to be my friend, I don't know, just flatters me?
"Of course, thank you."
My eyes darted a split second towards the blue-eyed beauty.

"Him? Oh, yes. He's Luke. Part of the Jocks. He's captain of the football team, is surprisingly good at science, and has a dumb blonde cheerleader girlfriend."

My expression changes for a split second but returns to normal. Of course he's got a girlfriend.

"And lastly, we have Ashton. He doesn't have a group. He sits by himself, he doesn't have anybody. People pity him, but no one is there for him. If you can and want to, I suggest befriending him. It might get you a little hate and bullying, but Ash is just so nice and I hate to see him that way. Please?"

Before I have a chance to respond yeah, the first bell rings.

"What do you have first?" Emma asks me.

Looking at my schedule, I reply: "Science."

Emma didn't even get a chance to open her mouth before I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry, Emma. I'll make sure she gets there safely. I'm going the same place."

I turn my head so I can see that Luke was the one saying he'll direct me to my first period. I didn't have time to object by the time Luke held my wrist in his hand and was dragging me to science. I couldn't wince in pain, or he'd know something was up. But his grip around my bracelets really hurt.

Right as we were about to head in, Luke leaned down to my ear and whispered: "We haven't met yet, but I'm Luke. You are?"

For some reason, this sent a small shiver down my spine.

"I'm Y/N..."
