Jax's POV:
It had been a long three weeks since anybody saw Ethel. In those three weeks, Scotty managed to hack into the system and keep track on all the cameras around Charming and surrounding. Not only, but Kurt managed to get some information on Cheek. Not much, but it had been enough to realise Cheek had been planning everything for months, even from the clubhouse back in Australia. And well the visit to Marcus wasn't any help, he wouldn't say much. The name Cheek was a bust, but under the name Diego Sanchez, he said it sounded familiar.
But through out the three weeks, both clubs had been growing some friction. We were all tired and frustrated, especially when we had been trying to track him. Riding all around California. It was a fucking fail, put it that way.
"Oi Jax, Scott caught Cheek on camera about three hours ago. Something like 300 miles out of town." Tig announced as soon as I hopped off my bike.
"Any updates?" I took off my helmet and hung it on the handle bars.
"Nah, not yet. But the bastard is getting closer and closer to town." Tig shook his head as he approached me. "You reckon he's dragged Ethel around the country or.." Tig paused, as if signalling me to join in on the sentence.
"I dunno. There hasn't been any sightings of her has there?" I frowned, my heart sinking as I thought about it.
"Nah man." Tig again shook his head as we both walked over towards the entrance to the clubhouse. "But good news, Juice got discharged this morning. He's in with Scott dealing with it all now."
"That's a relief. How's he going?" I nodded as we pushed the door open.
"Seems to be alright, he's been a bit slow. But he did get hit in the head, I'll give him some slack." Tig chuckled.
Once we entered the clubhouse, Mr Smith and Clay were looking over a map on the pool table whilst Scotty and Juice sat at the bar staring at the laptop screen. Leaving Tig's side, I approached Juice from behind, slapping his shoulder.
"How you doing man? Good to see you finally out of hospital." I gave Juice a smile. It sure was a relief he had gotten out, than we knew we had more of a chance catching the prick if both Scotty and Juice were on the case.
"Yeah I'm getting there. Major fucking migraine, but hey nothing a couple of painkillers can't handle." Juice returned the grin, but his smile soon faded. "I'm sorry Jax, that night-"
"Don't worry about it, man." I shook my head. "You protected her as much as you could, I should've been waiting for her to come home. Sober. If I was sober, maybe things would've been different." I looked down towards the laptop to see various different angles of different cameras.
"No Jax seriously, you don't realise how much it hit me. Literally." Juice rolled his eyes. "Maybe if I had of reacted a split second faster and than Ethel mightn't be in this situation." Juice looked down.
"Don't beat yourself up over it brother. You did all you could." I gave him a small nod before leaving his side.
"Wait Jax-" Juice called out, removing himself from the stool and following me over to the other side of the bar. "I need to talk to you about that day."
"What about it?" I turned around facing him.
Juice nodded me further away from everybody else and looked away for a moment.
"Ethel was frightened of Cheek-" Juice started, but I cut him off.
"I know that." I stared at him blandly. I didn't need to hear everything I knew over again.
"Hear me out." Juice shook his head. "Ethel said Cheek did shit to her well before she ever came to Charming. He's hurt her before."
"What did he do?" I asked angrily. Just knowing that made me mad, I knew she had some kind of history with him, but knowing he had hurt her previously I didn't know. It sure made sense as to why she was scared of him.
