The Skylords

Chapter Seventeen

Tessa stood at the front door of her grandfather's house thinking of what to say. Sylvie knocked on the door and Tessa looked over at him and he shrugged, 'you took too long.' The door was opened and the same young man answered the door, 'what now?' he demanded.

The man now seemed to look different to Tessa almost like he had a magical aura to him. She looked at his eyes and confirmed that he was a wizard when she saw he had blue eyes.

Jane spoke first 'we know who you are' she said softly. The man just stared at them 'I don't know what you're talking about' he said trying his best to look confused. Sylvie took over 'look we know you are Arthur Jones, there is no point denyiny it.

The man froze the minute he heard his name being mentioned. Sylvie kept talking 'this is Tessa Jones' he said gesturing towards Tessa. The man looked over at Tessa 'and.....your point is?' Jane sighed. 'She's your granddaughter.'

The man stared at Tessa. Tessa was starting to get sick of people staring at her today, it was making her feel uncomfortable.
'Alec had a daughter?' he said mostly talking to himself. 'Yes' said Tessa getting angry 'so if you really are my grandfather, why did you fake your death so many years ago?'

Her grandfather sighed. 'I thought you would ask that.' Tessa remained silent, waiting for him to go on. 'I did it because it was the only way to keep your father and mother safe.' Tessa opened her mouth to say something but he interrupted her again. 'Look I had to Tessa. I know it was a horrible thing to do, but don't think I haven't regretted it every day of my life. But you see humans are forbidden to know about the magic world.' He sighed and kept talking 'I couldn't keep it from them any longer and I realized I was putting them in a lot of danger. Thats why I faked my own death. Can you forgive me?'

Tessa could feel herself nodding uncontrollably. 'Ok right' said Sylvie, clapping his hands together. 'Now what we actually came here for wasn't to find her long lost grandfather.' Tessa shot him a glare and he flinched. 'Well I suppose it was but it wasn't the main thing we came for.'

'Now that you trust us, we need you to give us the potion you have been hiding for so long.' Arthur froze, 'If you tell me what it does I'll give it to you' he said. 'All I know is that the Skylord's have wanted it for so long and I knew it would be trouble giving it to them.' Sylvie nodded, 'we figured that's what you thought. You see the potion will revearse the spell which they have cast on people.'

Arthur said no more and turned and walked  into his house. Tessa felt relieved that, that was over and done with but when she turned to look out onto the garden  she saw about ten Skylord's silently walking in their direction. She could even see more looming over the hill. She put her head down trying to avoid eye contact, that is if they had eyes. She reached for her hood and pulled it over her face.

'How did they find us?' she muttered barely moving her mouth. No one answered but they all stood as still as possible getting ready to fight. They reached the gate just as Arthur came out the door. Luckily he had concealed the potion. 'Who are you?' boomed one of the Skylords.

Arthur said nothing and finally answered 'why do you want to know?' The Skylord spoke again, 'Tell us' he boomed again. Arthur took a deep breath 'my name is Noah Wood.' Tessa gasped but managed to conceal it by coughing. 'Where is Arthur Jones?'

'I don't know' said Arthur angerly. 'Why are you asking me?' The Skylord that had been talking stepped forward, reached into its cloak and produced a wand. 'You do know' he said threatingly, 'and if you don't tell us, it won't end well for you and your friends.'

He looked over at Tessa, Jane and Sylvie and Tessa quickly put her head down again. Sylvie interrupted 'he is over there' he indicated towards the house where Noah was. The Skylord looked at him and turned back to Sylvie, 'your friends seem to be smarter than you.'

He turned back to the group of Skylord's that had gotten bigger by now 'I'll need someone to guard them while I'm gone. I need to ask them a few questions' he growled.

He turned and five more Skylord's followed him leaving about seven standing in front of them. 'Well what are we going to do now?' muttered Tessa. She looked around at Jane, Sylvie and Arthur who looked as helpless as her. They were trapped..................
