The next day Justice woke up in the most amazing mood, knowing she finally had someone, someone much more than a friend. She rushed downstairs and noticed her father had gone to work and blasted up the radio which was playing Bob Marley. She spread her toast and walked around the kitchen singing and dancing. Sunny pulled up outside her house on his bicycle and could hear the loud music coming from the kitchen. He curiously walked round and peered into the window noticing Justice dancing around the kitchen whilst eating her breakfast.
He giggled and watched her every move as she freely moved around. Sunny suddenly jumped up into the window pain and started singing loudly. Justice jumped in fright and in embarrassment turned the radio off and stood still.
“How long were you there?” she asked
Sunny looked down at his watch and laughed, “A minute, if that.” He mumbled
Justice blushed and looked over at the boy she had shared a kiss with. Sunny looked back at her with the same expression as she had on her face and grinned.
“So what’s the plan for today?” he asked
Justice grinned, “Swimming in the river!” taking a bite out of her toast.
Sunny enthusiastically grinned and swallowed his breath nervously. The truth was due to the fact of Sunny growing up in Toronto in a polluted area; he had never been able to swim. But he wasn’t going to ruin Justice’s plans and look like a wimp. Together they walked down to the river with their towels talking about their hobbies, things they liked and what they had in common.
Justice suddenly realised a group of people from her school were swimming in the river and stopped. Sunny looked over at her, realising how nervous she was. He encouraged her to walk to the willow tree and see who it was. Of course it was Regina and her group of friends all wearing small bikinis and drinking cold beers.
Justice watched Sunny’s face, waiting for him to notice Regina. The truth was Sunny had already seen Regina when he had first arrived in Newark as they were near enough neighbours. Although he could see she was a beautiful girl on the outside, he wasn’t interested.
Justice turned away and faced Sunny.
“Let’s go home. I don’t want to do this…” she moaned
Sunny shook his head and stood close to her, “You can do this Justice. I’m here.” He insisted
Sunny chucked his towel onto the muddy floor and dived into the river, creating a huge splash. Justice ran to the edge of the bank and looked down. Even though Sunny had never swum and didn’t really know what he was doing, he had to make Justice feel comfortable.
Regina and her gang glared over at Justice as they sat on the other side of the river, downing their beers. Sunny grabbed hold of the tree branch, stretching across the water and looked up at Justice.
“Just look at me, ignore them.” He grinned
Justice with her lips trembling and sweaty palms shaking, she slowly took the towel away from her and dropped it onto the floor. Sunny nearly lost his balance as he examined Justice’s body. Sunny could even feel himself blushing a little as she got closer to him. She slowly stepped into the water, just looking at Sunny.
Sunny cheered as she finally started to swim and feel comfortable. Suddenly Regina jumped into the river and swam over to Sunny. She pushed her body against his and flicked her long curly hair back.
“Hi Sunny, are you coming round my house tonight? I’m having a party!” she grinned
Sunny stuttered, not knowing what to say. Justice looked down, ashamed that she wasn’t invited.
