A week later both of them hadn’t tried contacting each other but it wasn’t as if they weren’t thinking about one another. Justice had moved out of her studio home that she shared with Jack and moved into a small apartment uptown. Her head was all over the place and she was smoking a box of 20 a day. Sunny on the other side was doing nothing, most days he just sat on the porch watching the clouds move and the sky turn from day to night.
It was the Friday and somehow Sunny’s aunt had persuaded him to join her at the town’s ball where everyone was invited. Sunny hadn’t even thought about Justice going, he knew it wasn’t her thing. However Justice was very interested in getting the community into art and therefore wanted to represent a small gallery at the ball.
Sunny dressed up in his tight navy suit with his uncle’s boa tie. He combed his hair to the side and even shaved. Justice dressed up in a long, baggy dress with daisy’s on. She had a bowler had and black brogue’s on. Sunny was first to arrive with his aunt and noticed the huge crowd of people attending the event in the cities hall. Before he could ignore her, he and Regina made eye contact and it wasn’t long before she made her way over.
She was wearing a tight black, velvet dress with purple ankle boots. Even though she was attractive, Sunny could never get past her ignorant personality. Regina sat him down next to her and poured herself a glass of white wine.
“So honey, I probably shouldn’t be talking to you after you ran out on me at the bar the other day!” she laughed
Sunny sarcastically laughed and downed his glass of straight vodka. Slowly his aunt made her way over and sat between the pair. Regina snared her lip and looked over at Sunny. His aunt rolled her eyes and turned to Regina.
“You wouldn’t be a darling and see if my purse is in the ladies, would you?” she asked Regina
Regina looked over at Sunny, “Of course! I guess those old eyes just don’t work anymore!” she laughed before walking off.
His aunt giggled and noticed Justice walking through the doorway.
She grinned and with all her might called her name, “Justice, darling over here!” she waved
Justice grinned and made her way over, “Hello, it’s so good to see you!” she grinned, kissing his aunt on the cheek.
His aunt slowly stood up and made up an excuse before walking over to the bar.
Justice awkwardly sat down and both of them fell silent. Sunny laughed awkwardly and downed his second vodka.
Justice clasped her hands together and hummed to herself. Sunny leaned back in his chair whilst tapping his foot against the table leg. Both of them suddenly looked at each other and spoke at the same time.
“So..”
“How..”
Both of them laughed and suddenly the tension was gone.
Justice smiled and flicked her hair back, “Look at you, finally shaved your beard off!”
“You didn’t like the beard?” he asked raising his eyebrow
“The manly look didn’t work.” She giggled
Sunny laughed, “What am I now, a pretty girl?”
Justice nodded and fluttered her eye lashes, “Never seen such soft stubble!” she laughed
Sunny grinned and stretched his arms out, “How have you been?” he asked
Justice nodded whilst drinking her vodka and lime, “Good. I’ve moved uptown, it’s smaller but nice.” She smiled
