As the summer days went on they spent them with One another. Swimming, cycling, fishing, sun bathing or Sunny listening to Justice Read or watch her write poetry. They were unconditionally in love with each other. Justice’s father was still lead to believe she was best friends with Regina, who in fact the couple hadn’t seen since the party.

In Justice’s head all she could think about was Sunny, when she was with him and when she wasn’t. Sunny on the other hand, his head was bubbling with more than just happy thoughts of Justice. He never knew when it would be his last day there in Newark. He knew as soon as the summer was over he would have to go home and get a job and if he didn’t he was homeless. Not to mention his father was cheating on his mother and planning to leave her.

All these things that Sunny couldn’t talk about, not even with Justice. But whenever he started to worry in his mind, he’d look over at the willow tree and notice Justice smiling back at him, dancing around in her denim shorts or pleated skirts. As the weeks went on their love for one another became deeper, stronger and unbreakable. It was just their age that stopped their love from being taken seriously and then the thought crossed Sunny’s mind.

Sunny and Justice caught the bus to town and walked up to the old church in the centre. Holding hands, the heels of their shoes clogged along the stone floor and echoed around the room. Suddenly a small priest appeared from his office holding a cup of tea in one hand and a bible in the other.

Justice looked up at Sunny, holding his hand tightly. Sunny calmly shook the priest hand and explained the couple’s situation and wondered if the priest would bless them with marriage. Obviously the priest rejected the idea, knowing Justice was only seventeen. The couple begged and tried to come up with an ethical reason why they should get married. They pleaded so much that in the end the priest chased them out of the church and banned them to ever step foot in the holy place again.

At the bus stop the couple sat still, holding each other’s hands not saying a word. Both of them felt defeated, age in their minds were just a number. Later that evening Justice cycled down to the willow tree after spending her time helping her father clean out the cupboard under the stairs. Sunny’s head appeared from behind the willow tree with a basket of strawberries and fresh bread his auntie had made.

Justice ran over to him wearing her pink pencil skirt and oversized denim shirt. He suddenly jumped up and picked her up, spinning her in a circle before gently lowering her feet back onto stable ground. She looked up at the young man she un doubly loved and kissed him on the cheek. She noticed how nervous he looked and just ignored it, about to sit down. He suddenly lifted her back up and lowered himself down onto one knee.

Justice gasped, placing her hands over her mouth. If in artist was there at that very moment of time, it would have been the prettiest picture. The lake sparkled in the back ground as the sunset shun onto the clear water then up on the back just under the swaying willow tree were Justice and Sunny ignoring everything around them, glaring into One another’s eyes. In Justice’s head all she could hear was violins going off and the sound of her racing heartbeat.

Sunny wiped the sweat away from his forehead and nervously searched for the ring in his jean pocket. Wrapped in cloth he pulled the chipped ring from it and as he went to put it on her finger, it sparkled in the sunlight. She giggled, jumping in joy.

“Will you, Justice George marry me? Together for today, together for tomorrow, together forever and a day.” He grinned.

Justice nodded and giggled frantically, “Yes, yes!” she cheered

Sunny picked her up and kissed her again and again. She wrapped her legs and arms around him, tighter than ever, stretching her arm out to look at the golden ring.
