I've been going to the cafe for almost a month now actually. Two weeks after my first visit a new girl was.  hired. i think her name was Avery or something. She's nice, but she is kinda dorky. Which i can respect. I'm that way too. Yesterday Mason told me to come later, for dinner. so i am. It's weird and i don't particularly like walking home alone at nights, but for her i'll make an exception. (because apparently acception isnt a word) so i headed out at around 7:30 and arrived at 8. just as instructed.

I see Mason sitting, waiting for me to come around as usual. So i saunter over and plop down next to her. I have been keeping a little secret...I am kind of a witch. But that's not unusual. especially in this neighborhood. Mason gets up and strides into the kitchen. soon returning with two bowls and mugs. today's special must have been pumpkin soup. We always have the special. It's pretty great. We both start eating. I look over to her. This is unusually quiet.

"so why did you want to meet up for dinner instead of lunch?" i question.

she stiffens. then tries to relax but it fails. she shrugs "i dunno." another spoonful of soup, "just thought it would be a nice change of pace."

we continue to eat. there is some small talk but not much. This is so strange. i keep trying to get a look at her face because i've gotten pretty good at reading her, but her hair blocks her face. When we finish she quickly takes them and goes back to the kitchen. Mason comes back just as soon as she entered. She stands in front of me.

"so..." she starts, but trails off.

"yeah?" i stand up.

"it...it's pretty late. want me to walk you home?" she offers, managing to keep a stoic expression.

"oh, um...normally i'd say no, but i don't really like the dark. So if you don't mind, okay." i smile at her.

"hm" she nods and holds the door open. "after you"

"thank you" i smile. when i hear the door jingle close i glance behind me, but i don't see Mason. i turn completely around and orange catches my eye. slowly i look down. That's a cat...

"um." i look at it, totally confused.

"i'm cursed." it says...Mason says... my bad

"i can tell..." this is a good time, "If we're going to be telling secrets then. I'm a witch."

"Really?"

"yep. "

"hm" she nods, "that explains why Reese isn't too fond of you."

"ye-wait what."

"s'nothing." she shakes her head, "shall we continue?" she takes a step.

"oh, yeah" i smile

the walk is nice. I feel like i should be more concerned than i am, but oh well. I'm not suprised by what she looks like as a cat. It actually really suits her. As far as i know she doesn't have a breed, and a kink in her tail. It's cute. Too soon we get to my apartment complex. we stop at the door.

"so, you want to come in for a little while?" i offer.

she tilts her head as if thinking it over.

she shrugs...or shrugs as much as she can for a cat "sure." she nods.

i open the door and she strides in. looks like i have a cat coming into my home like a normal guest...strangely not the weirdest thing I've ever done.
