The next day at ten minutes to noon. I take a deep breath, smooth out my skirt, and push the door open. the tiny bell jingles notifying the workers of my entry. I look to the wall of booth, right away I notice Mason sitting at one of the tables looking at her phone with a stoic expression. I nervously walk over to her.

"hey..." i mumble sitting next to her.

she glances at me and stands up. oh fuck, did i mess up already? did i sit too close? oh the anxiety.

"i'll be back." she says and stalks into the kitchen.

i try to steady my breathing, and look around at all the cats while messing with my hands. without noticing Mason has come back and has placed a plate in front of me. i look back at her, and then to the plate. oh that's cute. It's french toast cut into squares. in the center there is a cat face. I look to my right and smile at her.

"thank you. You're the cook here?" i ask, shoveling it into my mouth.

"hm." she nods, still chewing. god she's cute. i blush at my thought

"what's your work?" she asks sending me a quick glance before continuing to eat.

"oh, uh. i um. well.." god how do i put this, "I'm an animator. I've only done a few things, though" i shrug.

"like what?" she questions

"um...ever heard of Blast Zone?" i chuckle

"hm. " she nods, "girl here's obsessed."

"oh, well don't blame her. it's pretty good." i smile

she nods and slumps back into the cushions. She crosses her arms and looks me over.

i nervously blush an avert my gaze to the scenery outside.

"yer cute when you're flustered." she comments

"uh" my mind goes blank, my eyes widen and i look at her.

she's smiling "hah" she lets out before covering her mouth. her shoulders shake lightly. She's laughing at my suffering. Just my type. i kind of giggle.

she pinches my cheek and stands up with a contagious smile on her lips. she grabs our dishes.

"oh, how much was it?" i ask fishing for my wallet.

"don't worry 'bout it." she shakes her head

"but-"

"you come here for lunch with me from now on and it's free." she smiles at me

"y-you don't have to do that." i look at her nervously. i'd feel so bad

she shrugs and turns on her heels and stalks back to the kitchen.

i sigh and lean back. i sit there for a while when a girl in a green tunic like shirt thing walks by. i notice her earrings are the symbol for blast zone.

"hey, you like blast zone?" i ask her. her head snaps to me.

"yeah, i love it. do you?" she asks her eyes wide with excitement

"i've never played the whole thing, just played and seen snippets." i shrug

she gasps "how have you not played it as a whole?" she asks as if i betrayed her.

"it's not really my type of game. the Graphics were amazing though." i low-key compliment myself

"that's true. the scenery was sooo good" she gushes holding out the 'o' in so.

"thanks." i sigh.

"what." she looks at me confused.

"i animated a lot of the scenery. the battle field was my favorite." i look at her

"YOU animated it?!" she screeches.

"yeah...?"

"oh my god."

we end up sitting there for a while just talking. after a while i went back to my apartment. today was such a good day. i can't wait to see Mason again tomorrow.
