Based off this prompt: "You fainted...straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn't have to go to such extremes."
~set in their second year of high school, maya and lucas have been dating for about a month~"Maya!" Lucas said urgently, trying to shake her awake. "Are you okay, Maya? Wake up!"
Maya was lying on her bed, completely unconscious; Lucas had no idea what to do, and was about to call 911, when Maya gave a small moan, and blinked.
"Maya," Lucas breathed with relief, as Maya pushed herself up into a sitting position.
"What happened?" Maya asked hoarsely, vaguely recognising the panic and worry on Lucas' face.
"You fainted... straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn't have to go to such extremes." Lucas joked, trying to lighten the mood.
Maya glared at him. "Shut up, Huckleberry," she said, giving him a lazy whack, and trying not to smile.
"Are you okay?" Lucas asked her, his tone much more serious and concerned. "Maybe we should take you to the hospital or something,"
"No, no, I'm- I'm fine," Maya said dismissively.
Lucas placed a hand on Maya's forehead. She loved how large and strong they were, and how cool they felt against her burning skin.
"Maya, you're boiling," Lucas told her, taking his hand away.
"I think you mean hot," Maya quipped cheekily before she could stop herself.
Lucas grinned affectionately, "Very," he agreed.
"You know," Maya said with a smirk, slowly walking her fingers up Lucas' chest, "you can tell much more accurately when you use your lips instead of hands,"
Lucas raised his eyebrows, "oh, really?" He teased with a grin.
"Oh, yes," Maya teased right back.
Taking her head in his hands, he bent over and kissed her gently on the forehead. "Wow," he commented, "even hotter, than I thought."
Maya laughed, and pushed herself up to kiss Lucas; moving closer to her, Lucas kissed her back; Maya with a hand caressing his cheek, and Lucas with one on her lower back.
"Maya," he said when they stopped for a moment. She kissed him again, harder.
"Maya," he repeated, taking her hands off him, "as much as I am enjoying this, you're burning up; we need to find you some medicine."
Maya pouted at him.
"C'mon," he said, standing, "on y'get,"
Grinning, Maya stood up on the bed and jumped on his back, "Giddy up, Cowboy!"
Even though she couldn't see his face, she knew he was grinning sheepishly.
"I asked for that one, didn't I?" Lucas laughed.
"Yeah, you kinda did," Maya agreed, smiling from ear to ear.
"Well, off we go!" Lucas said loudly, and fake galloped from Maya's room to the bathroom.
They searched the medicine cabinet — with Maya still on Lucas' back — and found some aspirin, then they retrieved an ice pack from the fridge, a bucket from the cupboards and some tissues from the living room.
Lucas took Maya back to her room and plopped her into her bed, propping her up with some pillows. She took the aspirin with a glass of water and Lucas wrapped the ice pack up for her to put on forehead.
"How's that?" He asked, sitting at the end of her bed.
Maya smiled sleepily, "Better."
"Good." He replied, smiling back at her. "Do you want to watch something?" He added, picking up her computer and logging in.
Maya nodded earnestly. "Tangled!" She requested.
Lucas found Tangled on Netflix and pressed play. Handing the laptop to Maya, he stood up, "I'll be back in a sec,"
Maya smiled and gave him a nod, as he left the room.
He couldn't make soup, so the canned stuff would have to do. He selected a can of minestrone from the pantry and poured it into saucepan. It didn't take long for the soup to heat up, and he poured it into two mugs and walked back to Maya's room.
She looked up at the sound of Lucas entering and completely melted at the sight of him with the soup. "Why do you have to be so cute?"
He handed her a mug and smiled, "Only when you're sick."
"Well I better get sick more often then," Maya replied, moving over, so Lucas could squeeze into bed next to her.
She rested her head against his chest and sipped her soup, "wow, this is good," she looked up at him, "how'd you make it?"
"I... poured it, out of a can,"
"You could win Masterchef with that recipe," Maya said, mock-seriously. Lucas gave a snort of laughter.
Maya turned her attention back to the film, snuggling closer to Lucas, listening to the sound of his heart beat in his chest, and how hers seemed to synchronise with his; smiling she sipped her soup, and eventually fell asleep.
