When I left the sandlot around 5 PM, everyone else had gone home, and after Yeah-Yeah left it was just Squints and I walking alone like usual. I finally worked up the nerve to ask him about what he and Yeah-Yeah we're talking about.
"Oh, uh we were just talking about baseball and the new kid, which won't happen because you saw the way he threw," he said laughing making me smile as well.
"Yeah well, you were talking behind my back for three days straight now been wondering why?" I said then added "And we didn't see the new kid three days ago," I said
We reached my house and Squints still wouldn't tell me what he and Yeah-Yeah we're talking about. I said bye to him but before I could walk inside he grabbed my hand.
"Ok, y/n the truth is that we were actually talking about you, because really, really like you. And based off of the time you kissed me on the cheek I think you do too." I blushed so redly and my eyes were open wide.
I couldn't believe what he just said, did he mean it or was I going absolutely crazy.
"Wait what?" I said, and before I could say anything else he stood on his toes and kissed me right on the lips.
I was in shock, he let go of my hand and ran off to his house. I walked inside and fell on the couch, and after about five minutes of me laying on the couch, I finally decided to go up to my room. I heard Squints yelling across his house, I open my window and yelled 'what' to him.
"Benny said to meet in the back of Vincent's pharmacy" he yelled, "Also, I hoped you enjoyed that." He said with a smirk.
I think I blushed again but when I closed my window and shut my shade I ended up changing into my black pajamas.
The next day I got my usual flannel and baseball cap and some jeans, and I walked with Squints and Yeah-Yeah to Vincent's pharmacy. Squint and I were touching hands now and then but I was still not dating him.
Yet.
We were all sitting there for at least half an hour before Benny came by with someone behind him, he was the new kid from the game yesterday.
Benny introduced us to him and we introduced ourselves to him.
The catch was that he didn't know who the Great Bambino was, I just don't think he heard Ham that well, but maybe he really doesn't know.
We played with him but he didn't know how to catch or throw. It took Benny about a half an hour to teach him by then I was in the dugout watching all the boys play. There were 10 of us so someone had to sit out, but whatever we played a real game Benny and I would switch off bating.
