I was batting and passing the bat to Benny when Squints yelled "Oh No!" Six boys wearing blue hats, red and white varsity jackets, white sweatpants, high blue socks with two red strips at the top, along with some white and red cleats riding there bikes came towards us. They must have been Philip's little team, and remembered that Squints said they weren't a fan of girls playing baseball. Benny told me to go to the dugout but I followed him anyways, he hid me behind him after we got to them. "It's easy when you play with a bunch of rejects and a fat kid, Rodriguez." He said that made me mad but Ham handled it fine he got in a name calling contest with him, Hams was far better but not the last one, technically it was a compliment. "You play ball like a girl!" Everyone laughed and then stopped because they knew I was around there somewhere. I kicked Ham from behind Benny, and then Phillips said "What did you add a new wimp to you team." I was going to say something until Squints spoke up for me. "No and anyways she could play better than you any day." he said 'she' really fast. "Wait did you say she? Ha a girl is playing on your team, how much more did that bring your average down now?" he asked laughing along with his whole team, that was when I stepped out of behind Benny and said, "Well at least I play better than you and you boyfriends who only focus on winning." What did you say? " He said "You heard me." I responded "Tomorrow. Noon. At our field be there" He said. Everyone cheered and patted me and ham on the back, I thought I did the best, not trying to brag or anything. Squints and I went home a little earlier than everyone because Squints wanted to tell me that I was the first girl to ever stand up to Phillips. "It wasn't that hard it was like standing up to you." I said laughing, he put his arm round my waist and kissed me on the cheek. "Hey y/n you really are great to have around." But we didn't know that Yeah-Yeah had seen us, and he had all the courage to tell the team, but he didn't, not yet anyway.
