My vision slowly becomes clear as I stare up at the ceiling. Today is the day. I sit up and look at myself in the mirror. My Auburn hair comes down about 3 inches below my shoulder. It doesn't look that bad this morning because I straightened it last night. I gaze down at my hands which  are sitting next to my thighs and holding onto my bed. I smile a little, remembering my conversation about moving in with Lillian on Skype the night before, while painting my nails to match my hair. I look back up to my face and admire the freckles spread across my cheeks. They're the part of me that I like the most, well aside from my mint green eyes. Ben, my older brother, always said that they made me look like a Kitten (which was also his weird nickname for me). I never understood why, but that always made me feel happy. "Rae breakfast is almost done, are you ready for your first day?" I hear my moms words and it takes me a few seconds to come out of my own head. "I'll be right there" I call to her as I quickly throw on my clothes. I decided to wear my same black skinny jeans and converse along with a white t-shirt. Just in case, I wrap a black and red plaid shirt around my waist. Finally I chose my black beanie and pull it over my undone hair. After taking one last look in the mirror, I grab my backpack and hustle downstairs to meet my younger brother Aaron and my mom. "I already served you honey. Oh and your bus gets here in twenty minutes." "Thanks mom." She's always been the organized type of woman. Especially after dad died, she promised that she won't allow our lives to go downhill. That's why we moved to Wisconsin from Vancouver. Mom thought we'd have a better life in America. It's only been about 2 and a half months so today will be my first day of school in America. The best part is that Its my first year of high school. "The years of terror" as I'd like to call them. I've NOT been looking forward to it. And now not only do I have no friends, but I'll probably stick out like a sore thumb since I know NOTHING about being American. "You ok Hun?" I smile at mom as I reply. "Yea, just a little nervous that's all." She looks like she wants to say something, instead she just grins. "Well I should get going." I grab a slice of toast, give mom a hug and head out the front door to my bus stop.

****NOTE****
Hi! I wanna thank everyone who's reading. This isn't the first story I've written but it's definitely the first one I'll put a lot of time into. I've never actually finished a book bcz they were all just for school and I only needed a few pages worth. I'm sorry if it sometimes takes a little longer to upload a new chapter, I tend to stop in the middle sometimes and just not come back for a while (hehe). But yea I'm gonna try really hard to make this fun for all of us! Plus I'd love to see this story completed myself! Again thank you to everyone who decided to read my story. >.<
