2: All Seems Well

I stare out the window of the bus. Thinking about how horrible this day can be. If I set my expectations low it might not seem as bad. The bus comes to a slow halt. I'm assuming it's the last stop for pick up since we've already had around 6 stops. The first person is a girl with black hair. She has all different coloured highlights. It matches her clothes perfectly which is also mostly black with neon accessories here and there. The next student seems about my age. His hair is a very light blonde, almost white. It comes down to the top of his eyebrows. I like to call this style "Flooshy". His sky blue eyes shimmer and compliment his smooth pale skin. He turns his head in my direction. I quickly look down and hope he doesn't catch me staring. While shutting my eyes I feel the free space in the seat incline. Someone is sitting next to me. When looking up to see who's there I hear him say "Hey, cool bracelet." I look down and realise that I'm wearing my "Modern X" bracelet. "Oh thanks, they're my favourite band" I manage to spit out. "No way" he exclaims, smiling, showing his perfect teeth. "They're my favourite band too!"  I smile and turn to face the window. I can feel my temperature rising, I hope I'm not blushing. After about 15 minutes we arrive at school. I just want to get off this bus, and away from this guy as quickly as possible. It's my first day and I really don't feel like embarrassing myself. The school staff directs the students to the lunchroom. After walking through the double doors I look around, feeling nervous. There are so many students. Where do I sit, who do I sit next to, is there an empty table I can sit at. My knees feel wobbly and I just want to run. As I'm about to turn around someone puts their hand on my shoulder. I look to the right of me only to see the guy with blue eyes from the bus. Oh God, why him out of all people. "Hey I didn't get your name." I look up to him, man he's a lot taller than I expected, probably around 5' 9". "Oh yea, I'm Rae" I answered. "Cool, people call me Blaze. You're new around here huh. If you want you can sit with me and my buddies." He gave me a reassuring smile, "Oh no I'm-" He chuckles interrupting my sentence. "Come on, you wouldn't want to be alone on your first day of high school would you?" Without another word he lightly grabs my hand and walks me to a round table with 4 other guys. The one all the way on the left has the same hairstyle as blaze but his is pitch black and a bit longer. He has grey eyes and pale skin as well. His nose is more pointed than Blaze and his ears are hidden by his hair. The guy to the right of him has Hazel brown hair, it's pointed up in the front and shorter on the sides. He has dark brown eyes, a rounder nose and tanner skin than the rest. The next two to the right look very alike. They both have messy, bright, blonde hair with greenish yellow eyes. Their ears are covered by their hair and they have freckles, theirs are lighter than mine. The one on the right has a small dark freckle above his left eyebrow. I'm guessing they're brothers. "Who's the girl?" asked the one with grey eyes, not sounding too happy. "This is Rae, she's new and I thought she could sit with us." Blaze sat and patted the seat to the left of him. As I sit he introduces me to his friends from left to right. "That's Jarred, that's Eric, and those two are Ian and Ivan, they're twins." "I'm Rae" I greeted while waving. "Yea we've heard" Jarred remarked and rolled his eyes. Oh great, I'm already getting along with everyone. "Hey take it easy alright, she doesn't know anyone." Blaze quickly responded. "Yea well that's not my problem, we have enough idiots to deal with around here." I unsurely bud in "I-Its ok I'll go" I stand up and already start looking around to find another table to sit at, Blaze stands up and grabs my wrist. "She's staying here and that's final." I look up at him. He's not the same perky guy who sat next to me on the bus anymore. His face is very serious and demanding. I felt my heart beating quickly, what have I gotten myself into. Jarred stood up "Seriously dude come on she's just another person who'll mess our life up again. On top of that she's obviously a freshman and-" *BAM* I jump and look over at Blaze. He's furious and his fist is on the table. I look back at Jarred, he has no expression on his face, this kind of thing must happen often. "Blaze it's ok really, I'll find someone else to sit with, i-if not then I'm fine sitting alone, it won't be the first time, and anyway-" "Don't you have a heart! Can you just think about someone besides yourself for a minute. I'm sick of you shooing everyone away because of your own insecurities! Can't you tell that YOU'RE the one being an idiot right now?! One more person is NOT gonna hurt anyone." Blaze completely ignores me and harshly responds to Jarred's sneer remark. Why is he protecting me like this. I look up at him, trying to think what's going through his mind. Why does he even care. My gaze strolls down to his hand, still clenching my wrist. He doesn't even know me. "Whatever." Jarred quietly sits. Man how are these two still friends. Blaze looks at me and smiles, I hope he doesn't get like that often...it's kind of scary. We sit, I listen to Blaze, Eric, Ian and Ivan converse as if they'd known each other since birth. Jarred occasionally says a thing or two but mostly listens as well. I look back at blaze, he seems so happy. I hope I can really get to know him this year.
