It was my first date in months, and I was already running late. The date wasn't until 6:30 but I haven't even showered and it was already 4:00. I quickly hopped into the shower using my favorite shampoo to wash my hair. Once I was done and had my towel wrapped around me I began on my hair.
Deciding to curl it, I began to blow dry it. Once it was dry and curled I began on my makeup. I chose to wear eyeliner mascara and a little blush, nothing too fancy, I still wanted to look like me. One I was done I looked at the clock.
"Shit!"
It was already 5:50 and I had to leave at 6:00 to make it to the restaurant on time. I quickly got dressed wearing a short white dress with a sweet heart neckline, that flowed out at my waist and stopped mid-thigh.
I quickly put on my white flats and hurried out the door to my apartment, grabbing my purse and keys on the way out. Once I had gotten down stairs I hailed a cab and soon I was on my way to the restaurant.
..........
Once I had paid the cab driver I got out and stepped into the restaurant. As I walked in I heard someone call out my name.
"Tessa!"
I turned around and saw Zach, my date for the night. It was our first time meeting in person, we met at an online dating site and immediately hit it off. Zach was really tall (at least to me he was) standing at 6'2. He had curly brown hair and beautiful blue eyes. And he was extremely handsome.
"Zach, it's great to finally meet you!" I exclaimed.
"Here I reserved us a table in the back" he said placing his hand on my back to lead me there, ignoring my previous comment. Our date began rather awkwardly with us just talking small talk, but once we ordered our conversation opened up.
"So how long have you lived in New York?" He asked taking a sip of his wine.
"For about a year now. I used to live in Texas but I was able to get a job here in a bakery."
"I didn't know that you liked to bake, well maybe one day you could come over and bake for me." He said, winking at me.
"Hmm." I wasn't a big fan of the idea.
"So where do you live, I noticed you don't have it on your profile."
"Oh um I live in an apartment complex
on Columbus." I reply slightly taken aback by his question. Why would he need to know where I live? He opened his mouth to say something else but was interrupted but the waiter bringing our food. And that's how our night went him asking not necessarily creepy questions, but still odd questions. For example he asked me what kind of flooring I had in my apartment. And how many people lived on my floor. But when ever it would get too personal, like when he asked what floor I lived on, I just changed the subject and started asking him questions.
Finally dinner ended and he paid the bill. I let out a sigh of relief as I stood up to leave.
"Well thank you for tonight I had fun." I told him politely, lying through my teeth.
"It's only 8 why don't we head over to your place and have some coffee?" He suggested, winking at me.
"No thanks I need to get to bed I have an early shift tomorrow." Lie.
"Oh well why don't you give me your number and we can do this again." He said giving me his best smile.
"No thanks." I said and quickly turned around and began exiting the restaurant. I felt someone roughly grab my arm. "Zach let go of me!" I hissed trying to keep my voice down.
"Why don't you want to go on another date with me? What did I do? You know you weren't that great either!" He spat at me.
"Look I just didn't feel a connection okay." I said while trying to pull away from his grasp.
"Whatever, just watch out, I'll be keeping an eye on you!" He growled at me before letting me go and storming away leaving me dumbfounded in the middle of the room.
Zach was definitely not the man that was described in his profile.
