Please don't hate me too much but I finally updated.
..........
1 week that's how long I had been working as the head baker in the hotel; 1 week. It was already Friday, time had gone by so fast because I was enjoying myself so much. It honestly felt as though I had jumped straight from Monday to today.
Even though the week has been great, I felt bad, I had been staying an hour or two late after my shift, and because of it I had less time to see Mike. He didn't seem upset when ever I asked him, but I still felt guilty.
I closed my locker behind me and, after quickly checking to make sure I had everything in my purse, I began to leave the building and walk home. Normally I would be scared walking home alone in New York City but I've learned that if you stay on the main streets with people on them you should be relatively safe.
It wasn't long before the apartment building was in sight. As I was nearing the building I saw a figure entering. It was Mike.
"Mike?" I called out. He turned around confusedly.
"Tessa? Oh hey." He stood there and fidgeted.
"Why are you getting home so late?" I asked, immensely confused; he never got home later than 5.
"Oh I was just out with the boys. You know. How was work." He quickly changed the subject.
"It was good." I spoke slowly, not believing him when he said he was out with friends. He didn't have that many friends in the city; let alone some that he would go out late with. Deciding to brush it off for now I smiled at him and opened the door.
Together we walked up the stairs and to our respective apartments, making small talk along the way.
"Good night Mike. Are our plans still on for tomorrow?" We had decided to go out and have lunch to catch up.
"Shit! Babe I'm sorry but I totally forgot and I scheduled a work meeting. I'm so sorry." He ran his hand down his face with a groan.
"Oh um it's ok we'll just do it some other time. Night." With that I entered my apartment with out letting him get another word out.
First he had been acting strange and now this. It was weird for him. But I'm sure it was a one time thing. Everyone makes mistakes, I can't get mad at him for this, and he was probably embarrassed to tell me about his new friends, that's why he never mentioned them. Soon enough things will go back to normal.
..........
Because Mike had canceled on me today I had called Cherease to see if she was free. She wasn't; and I am walking alone in the mall. It's very pitiful, people keep giving me strange looks.
The best part was that I had yet to buy anything, instead I just wander into a store look around and leave, it was very unlike me. Normally I would spend way over my budget when shopping, and now I wasn't spending anything. It's ironic, when I earned less money I spent more of it, and now that I earned more I spent less.
I decided to go into the one store I always spent money in; the Nestle store. I always bought a milkshake from there. As I was walking in I ran into someone walking out.
"Sorry." I apologized, before continuing on my way.
"You better be sorry." The man grumbled before stalking past me. I turned around and glared at him; I mean it's not like he ran into me too.
"Some people are just so rude." I turned around to see the cashier shaking his head at me. He was young, maybe 18, with a thin build and blond hair.
