After standing in the middle of the restaurant for a couple of minutes, still trying to comprehend what Zach had said, I looked around and noticed people staring and whispering, I took that as my cue to leave.

Stepping outside I tried to hail a cab, but it took well over five minutes to flag one down. After I was able to grab one I stepped inside and told him my address. Within 30 minutes I had arrived at my apartment building.

After paying the cab driver I stepped out into the cool night air. Walking up to my building, I heard a loud bang coming from the alley way next door. At first I thought it was just someone knocking over a trash can, until I heard the loud grunts that followed.

Curiosity got the best of me and I started to make my way towards the dark alleyway, expecting to see nothing but darkness. But as I grew closer to the origin of the sound, I saw a man standing, facing the wall next some garbage bins. He was holding something that glinted in the light, but I couldn't make out what it was.

"Sir-" before I could say anything else he started to run. "Wait!" But it was too late he was already gone. I jogged over to the place he had been standing when suddenly I tripped. Luckily I caught myself before I face planted, but I had landed in something wet.

Turning to look at what I had tripped over I let out a scream. It was a man. I scrambled to get away from him thinking I had come across a murder when suddenly he let out a groan of agony. I crawled back over to him in time to notice that he had been shot in the stomach; thereby accounting for why my hands were wet.

Shakily I grabbed my phone out of my purse and dialed 911.

" 911 what is your emergency?"

" A man has been shot in the alley between apartment complexes 4 and 5 on Columbus avenue." I shakily told her.

After she assured me that an ambulance was on the way I turned back to the man. Now I'm no doctor but I always remembered that my mom told me that if you need something to stop bleeding then you apply pressure.

Noticing he was dressed in a full suit I pulled his suit jacket off of him, and I quickly applied pressure to his shot. He flinched and groaned in pain.

"I'm sorry, but it's for your own good."

Soon the ambulance had arrived. Before they drove away I was able to see their logo was that of the Mount Sinai Hospital.

"Ma'am, we'd like to ask you some questions about the crime." An officer said leading me away from the street.

"Could you explain to us what you saw?"

"Well I was just coming home from a date and I-I heard a loud bang in th-the alley so I went to see what it was a-and I saw a man w-with a gu-gun and then he ran away and I found that man's b-body." I managed to gasp out.

"Did you get a good look at the shooter ma'am?"

"N-no sir it was too dark."

"Well thank you for your cooperation, while I doubt it you may be called in for a full report. Also here's my number in case you remember anything else." He tipped his hat at me and walked to his car, and soon drove off.

I squeezed past all the people standing about wondering about the crime scene, and made my way up to my apartment.

Now, my apartment way small, as are most New York apartments. It had one bedroom one bathroom a living space with a kitchen attached and a small closet. Walking I placed my purse on the little side table next to the door, and trudged to the shower.
