I carefully made my way up the stairs and into our room. I didn't want to drop the food I made for Lena. I walked into the room and saw all of the kids around her. Two in the floor (Jesus and Brandon). Two on the bed with her (Jude and Mariana). And one in the chair (Callie). They were all peacefully asleep. Including Lena.
I sat the tray on her table and kissed her cheek. I stood there holding her arm for a while, just smiling and thinking about how amazing my family is.
It was only 1 o'clock pm so I made sure I had my keys and phone. I wrote a note for them when they woke up and left in on the tray next to Lena's food. I walked downstairs and went into the kitchen. I grabbed a bottle of juice from the fridge and went back to the entryway of our house. I grabbed my jacket and put it on.
Time to go see what the hell Monte is up to paying the hospital bills and all.
