I slowly opened my eyes, I was on a bed with white blankets and a pretty hard pillow. I tried to sit up, but a pain in my stomach stopped me from moving too much. A few feet away from the bed were curtains as if I were in a hospital. I looked down at myself, having bandages wrapped around my stomach and a cast on my right leg. Maybe it was all a dream, I thought as I looked at the IV in my arm. Heh, maybe there was no infection, no death, maybe everything was normal. I smirked at the thought. I mean, it all just sounds stupid. The apocalypse? Nah, it was probably all a bad dre-

"It's about time sleeping beauty!" A familiar voice said.

"Oh God, it's real." I whispered to myself.

The curtain in front of me opened up, as Jayden stepped through wearing a blue t-shirt and grey sweat pants. I looked up at him as he approached the side of my bed, "What happened?" He shook his head before grabbing a chair and sitting down next to me. "Well, I carried your practically dead body out of a shit storm. Heh, that's all you need to know." He said with a smile.

I grabbed the blankets, "You never told me why you thanked me."

He sighed. "She was a mess, she was bitten on the thigh by her husband, she was driven mad." he started to say. "And what about Randy?" I raised an eyebrow, He shook his head as he uttered the words, "Sidney doesn't have a child." That sentence sent chills down my spine. He then looked me in my eyes, his brown eyes made me feel uneasy. "How does it feel?" he asked, looking at my wounds. "Oh" I said looking down. "They hurt, but only when I move."

"Interesting......" He crossed his arms and leaned back.

"What is?" I asked, confused.

Jayden leaned close and whispered. "You're not feeling.... hungry are you?"

"N-not really, why?"

He then leaned back. "You were past out for 3 days, bitten twice on the arm and leg, and you're sane, recovering, not slurring your words, and you seem to be just fine." He said looking a bit confused. "Is that a bad thing?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Well it's not bad. It's just uh.. new." He brushed a blonde hair out of his face. "The infection spreads rapidly, normally after 24 hours the person loses their minds. You're healthy."

I looked at my arm, he was right. There was a bite mark on the top part of my right arm, I was to weak to look at the other one on my leg. "The others wanted me to leave you, or kill you when we brought you in." Jayden slumped down in his chair. I stared at Jayden, "What do you think it means?"

He looked around before whispering. "I think you are immune from whatever disease this is."

"How would-"

Jayden stood up and put his hand over my mouth. "Shush. You need rest." He said said as he removed his hand from my mouth. I then nodded and he left the little area, closing the curtain behind him. I leaned back into the bed and closed my eyes, it was silent. I wonder why it's me who's immune exactly. Soon I grew tired of thinking and I let sleep surround me in it's deceiving embrace.

What could've been at least 6 hours later, I woke up. Sitting up, I felt fine surprisingly. No pain, no struggling, just like normal. I looked at my shoulder, the bite mark had already turned into a scar, I wondered how it had healed so quickly, as I removed the IV and started to get out of the bed. I looked at my leg, there was another scar near my knee. I stood up, I was only in my boxers, but at this point I didn't really care. I unwrapped the bandages that were around my stomach, revealing a large scar. It looked like someone had taken a blade and slashed me diagonally from the bottom of my ribcage on my right side, to my hip on the left side. I took the cast off of the leg I had broken and moved it around, it felt just fine.

A dark skinned lady opened the curtain, she looked at me. Her eyes were an ebony color, her hair black as mine and tied into a messy bun. She was wearing a pink dress with many floral designs, which flowed down to her knees. She had a denim jacket over the dress, and was wearing flip flops. "How the hell are you standing?" She asked, looking confused. I looked at her with concern, "I-I don't know exactly." She looked back slowly. "Jayden! Come here!" she yelled.

I heard footsteps as Jayden entered the little area. "Wow," I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He turned to look at the woman, "Sasha, get him some clothes." She nodded and then took off. He looked up at me and smiled.

"What?!" I asked confused.

"I have several ideas Damian, but I only believe one of them is true."

The lady, Sasha I believed was her name, came back with a pair of blue jeans and a rainbow shirt that says in a cool font, "Rainbow X" she tossed them on the bed and then crossed her arms, before looking up at Jayden, "Do you think it's true?" she asked. He just gave her a nod and signaled her to leave and she did so.

As I pulled the shirt over my head, he began to speak. "Me and Sasha came up with a theory about you."

"And?" I asked as I reached for the blue jeans sitting on the bed. I began to put them on, one leg at a time.

"We don't think that you're only immune to the virus."

"Oh really?" I said, pulling the pants up to my waist.

"We think that the virus was meant to be some sort of 'cure'" he said as I finished pulling up the pants and buttoning them. "For what exactly?" I asked, still a bit lost from his rambling. "We're not sure, but you aren't immune. The people around here, they're just bad apples. You however," he was interrupted by Sasha entering the room, "You're exactly what was SUPPOSED to happen, quick healing of the wounds and possibly even immunity to most or even all diseases!" She said like she was listening the entire time. Jayden rolled his eyes and smirked.

"Come on, you gotta come meet the others now." He said, leaving the area.

I sighed before taking a step out of the area where I rested for so long. I looked around, there were several others here. I wondered if these were the people at the evac station? I smirked. I had never seen this place so dull and quiet, there was sadness here at the Rainbow X. I then stepped away from the area to see if I can help restore the happiness this place was filled with before this mess.
