I grab the last box of clothes from the moving truck and set it in my room. I get started on setting up all my things. I organize my closet, vanity, bathroom, desk, and fix my bed. It's been years seen I've been in Valley's Point and I'm finally back.
If someone was to tell me years ago that I was going to become an entirely different person. Maybe not entirely, but I am different from who I was before. Back then, I let people walk all over me and bring me down. Seth Dawn, who was my best friend, was the only who could calm me down and make me feel as if I had worth. Today, I don't need anyone to do that because I know I'm worth more than what people have said.
I've done good things and I got treated like shit, but not anymore. I don't let people walk all over me like they own me. I am my own person and it took me a while to realize that. Back in middle school, I wasn't the skinniest girl, more like I had fat, not a lot, but it was there and it was noticeable.
My mom always told me not to worry because my baby fat will go away and if I exercise and eat right, I'll get the body I want so that's what I did after I left.
When I moved to New York, I made friends with other kids that were my age and they helped me achieve my goal.
I used to be really short and chubby with black hair and bright blue eyes. Now, I'm at an average age height of 5 feet and 6 inches, toned, and instead of black hair, I dyed it light brown but my roots are black. My eyes still bright and light blue.
I changed a lot, I have to admit.
I finally finished fixing up my room. I went to check on my brother, Max. He's 5, turning 6 next month. He was about 2, almost 3 when we left.
He was sitting on his bed, reading one of the story books I got him for Christmas. Max is the hyper, outgoing type of boy, but he was also quiet when it came to learning and reading. He's not so rowdy like every little boy and he's not spoiled either. My parents run and own a hotel company. They may have a major job, but they always make time for us. Though, we are rich, my parents have taught us to appreciate the little things and to learn how to do things on our own.
Max knows how to clean himself up without having someone to pamper him and same with me. We do have workers in the house that cook and clean for us, but they're not always here so we learned to do things on our own.
I sat on his bed next to him. I comb my fingers through his hair as he continues reading. He closes the book once he finishes.
"So how was my reading?" Maxy asks.
"You're getting better and better, Maxy." I ruffle his hair.
He grins. "Thanks then I can read books that you read and we can read together!"
I chuckle. "There's no rush for that. Plus, your books suit you. So are you done with putting away your things?"
"Yes." He nods. "Can we get ice cream?"
"Let's go. I'll change and you need to, too."
"Can you pick out my clothes?" He asks.
I nod and pick him up into my arms. We go into his closet and I pick out some shorts, a stripped tank top, and some converse for him to wear since it's still summer.
I leave him to change and I throw on a white cropped singlet, ripped denim shorts, a plaid flannel around my waist, and my black old skool vans.
I tie up half of my long brown hair up and grab my bag. I walk downstairs to see Max waiting.
"You take long." He complains.
"You can't look this good in a short amount of time." I tease.
"If you were me, then you can." Max says back.
