Ah, the first day of school. Usually, you either get excited, nervous or a combination of both. Me? I just want to get it over with. I already know how this is going to go down.

You step out of your car then everyone turns their heads towards you, that's when the whispers start. They ask who that girl is, if she's new, etc. Guys, most commonly, start betting on who can bang her first or talk about how they would love to see her naked or maybe on how she'll fall for his charms. I roll my eyes at that. Girls will through glares and scowls because she's now considered competition. Ah, so petty, ain't it?

That's typical.

But that's only if you get to school on time. If you're late, you can dismiss those lustful stares and heavy glares. But, you'll see them either way, in the hallway, in class, and especially, in the cafeteria.

I'm currently debating in my head whether to go on time and just get through with the whole rumor, betting shit or to deal with it later.

I put on my converse when I finally choose to be on time. Might as well get over it ASAP. I check myself in the mirror before heading down. I'm wearing a black skinny jeans, a gray cropped hoodie that shows off my belly piercing, and black converse. I'm, of course, wearing my silver locket that my mother gave to me before she died. My current mother, Helen, is my step mother. Dad married her 5 years after mom died.

Usually, you'd think that I hate my step mother, but I actually don't. Helen is not my real mother, but she tries. I'm grateful for her.

I smile at my attire and curl my hair into waves. It reaches my waist, even with the hoodie in the way. I fill in my eyebrows and put on Chapstick and I'm ready to go.

I'm not a big fan on make up. If I have to wear it like for parties and special events, then I will without complaining, but if there isn't a valid reason, then you can forget about it.

I walk downstairs to see Max struggling with his bag. I chuckle and help him.

"Maxy, I told you not to put all your supplies in here." I scold playfully. "Just put the things you think you'll need."

"What if I think I need everything?" Ah, he has a smart mouth just like me.

I shake my head. "You know what I mean."

He sighs and takes out all his unnecessary supplies. Finally, it looks lighter.

"Go say bye to mom and dad now."

He nods and pulls me to study with him, it's where mom and dad work when they're at home.

We knock on the door and we hear dad say come in. I open the door and Max goes running to dad.

I see him sit on his lap as Max snuggles into his own warmth.

"Bye daddy. I'll miss you." Max hugs him.

Dad wraps his arms around him. "Where are you going now?"

"School. It's my first day." He smiles.

"Oh really? You're a big boy now?"

Max nods. "Can you come with me?" He asks.

Dad chuckles, along with mom. "Sorry, kiddo. I don't think kindergarten is for me. Plus, I have work. Don't worry. I'll be home when you get back, okay?"

"Okay, daddy. I love you." He kisses his cheek.

"I love you, too." Dad smiles as Max moves on to mom.

I say my good byes and they both warn me to stay out of trouble. I chuckle at that and tell them that I'll try, but no promises.

I drop Max off then head off to my new school. Valley Point High School. I step out of my car and I was right, heads did turn to my direction then whispers started.
